I didn’t know this was a thing, clearly I have a mild case. Repetitive noises drive me crazy. When my dog is licking himself I make him stop because the sound is annoying. Now I can tel my husband there is a name because he thinks it’s no big dea

@VeryHappy, thanks for the link. Helps me understand a little better what our 23-year-old son is going through. :frowning:

@partyof5 LOL! I read your post about your dog and processed it as your husband licking himself!!! LOLOL!

Shaylynn is a pretty active misophonia advocate. She maintains a website and writes about it very regularly. The misophonia community needs more people who can clearly and effectively convey what misophonia is (and what it is not) and push for research.

I believe Shaylynn is behind the latest Duke research project on miso.

@momo2x2018 =))

I can’t read the article without giving my email, which I don’t want to do.

Really? I didn’t need to. It appeared on my FB feed, from an org called The Mighty. Go to TheMighty.com and search for misophonia. Several articles will pop up.

@Nrdsb4 - you probably didn’t see the option to “Skip and go to article”

This thread has been very interesting for me to read.

My 27 year old always has always insisted utensils scraping on plates/bowls drives him crazy. I recall many quick to anger moments while eating meals. He would especially go after the way his little brother scraped his spoon in the cereal bowl. (which only created more intentional scraping) We just visited him in his new out of state apartment and when I opened the kitchen drawer looking for silverware all I found were plastic forks, knives and spoons!

My earliest memory of my own quick to anger moment from music was in my early 20’s at a record shop. I recall a strong urge to leave the store immediately and my roommate wanted to finish looking for something. I became quite agitated and publicly snapped at her. To this day, there are certain songs that really set me off. It is usually in the car with my husband and often when his is listening to the Classic Rewind or Classic Vinyl stations. My first reaction is to quickly change the station and that is not always appreciated by the others the car. I think I am going to start jotting down the songs I react to and see if I can find a trend. I am guessing it is the beat.

The other noise that drives me nuts is the sound of people eating bananas!
