Treatment for poison ivy/sumac - ITCHING!

I was doing restoration work on Maury Island when I saw it. Specifically at the park that is only accessible ( for most) by boat. I had to be told what it was. It was relatively close to the shore.
I should ask my D if she has seen any on Sealth, they have a few acres on Vashon.

Fortunately, since this happened here at home all of those clothes stayed here. I don’t do his laundry anymore on a matter of principle, but I’ll make an exception for this and will throw in his sheets too. By the time he gets home tomorrow or Sunday, it will be a week since he came in contact. When he left in his car, the only thing that was bothering him were a few small places on his arms.

I talked to him last night and he said that the itch had calmed considerably after a bath with Aveeno and then some Aveeno cream. His goal was to sleep through the night. I think the oozing thing was kind of creeping him out.

Onward - Thanks for the suggestions about cashews and mangoes. I did see something about mangoes yesterday as I was looking up information. My son doesn’t like mangoes or cashews anyway so no worries there.

I wash with tenu if within 24 hours. It goes away soon after washing. Oozing sounds awful. Glad it;'s getting better. For us, it’s our dog that runs into a small poison ivy forest in my neighbor’s yard and spread it to the rest of the family. When rash begins to appear we rub tenu on red spots and take a good showere. The dog gets thorough cleaning first.

Benadryl helps with sleeping since it is an antihistimine. I use the liquid children’s version because the adult stuff REALLY knocks me out. With liquid, I can adjust the dosage to find the sweet spot: Enough to be effective, but not so much that it makes me woozy.

“EK- where in WA have you seen poison oak?”

There are some warning signs posted in Lincoln Park…
