<p>I want to extend a special thank you to those who posted the not-so-happy news of being bumped down. That is very helpful information for future applicants, and I know it isn’t easy to make that post. I feel strongly that it has nothing to do with you as an individual or an applicant, it has much more to do with the number of invited candidates who attend the interviews - and there were more than ever this year. I corresponded via PM with several of those bumped down, and I can say without question that every one of them earned and deserved the scholarship for which they interviewed.</p>
<p>If any people from the USC admissions office happen to be looking in on this thread, I have a suggestion for the scholarship invites: Because there appears to be about a 40% chance that a candidate may be bumped up or down - and some of them down to Director’s, it seems that inviting candidates to interview for “a scholarship” rather than specifically Trustee or Presidential would be a more positive way of handling it. That way a Director’s scholarship of $4,000 would be good news instead of a bitter disappointment for a wonderful applicant who thought $40,000 was within reach.</p>
