Ok, my first meeting in a month. (Called in sick, then a snow day, then Easter vacation.). Even with St Patrick’s Day, Easter, and a big family reception, I’m still down an additional 5 pounds, for a total of 14 ;). I don’t have any pants that fit! Yay!
@bjkmom great results, especially with all those challenges!
@bjkmom - a testament that the program works! Excellent!
A good no pants fit! Congratulations @bjkmom
Ugh…today is my “home” weigh in day (tracked on the app) and I am up .8 lbs! I think I am probably not eating enough - sometimes on the weekends I forget to eat. I could also be retaining water. Who knows? It was a disappointment but my meeting day is Wednesday so hopefully that will yield better news. The only other thing I have really changed was some low carb wraps I was eating for lunch last week. I am just going to try to eat closer to my points this week. A few days last week I ended the day with 13-15 points left which is not good.
I was walking 3 miles a day but then my left foot started to bother me. The Dr said it is likely Plantar Fasciitis and that I should stick to low impact exercise for a couple of months. I wanted to cry! For the first time in my life I have been enjoying exercise. The only time I have to exercise is on my lunch hour and that is not enough time to get to the gym. I’m going to see how it goes - I am wearing insoles, icing, and taking Advil. The weather here is supposed to be terrible all week so I will just do half as much on my treadmill.
@millermomm, sorry to hear about your difficulties. I hope your feet start feeling better. It’s so frustrating! I’ve had that kind of thing happen in the past. I was doing great with my running at one point, then developed Achilles tendinitis.
The good news is that you WILL get better. Try not to get discouraged and hang in there. It’s worth it! And yes, make sure you eat enough.
Remember, it’s a marathon and not a sprint. There will be plateaus and gains along the way.
I was on a plateau myself for over a month. Now the weight is finally coming off again. I have 5.7 pounds to go to get to my first goal, a BMI of 25. I was about 28 pounds overweight when I started trying to lose weight last year.
Our next door neighbors have invited us over for dinner tomorrow night. The wife is Italian and an amazing cook!! And I have my bi-weekly weigh-in the following morning! Ack.
Weigh in today. I’m down another 1.4, for a total of 15.4
If I can manage to average just one pound per week, I’ll be at goal before we head to Disney World in July.
And, honestly, if the weather EVER warms up, I’ll start in with a lot more salads and walking. Neither seems palatable in the cold dreary weather we’ve had so far this spring!
I got home and had steak and eggs for dinner… leftover skirt steak, 2 fried eggs and 1 slice of diet bread… 6 points out of my 23 daily.
What’s not to love about a diet that lets you eat steak and eggs???
You’re doing great!
But I’ll play the devil’s advocate…the cold dreary weather comes back next year…and exercise is important in your life no matter what the season or your weight - lose weight and get healthy - don’t just lose weight! Start walking now and include salads or other vegetables now!
Good post @abasket It is easy for us to use any excuse to take the foot off the gas pedal and then we wonder why results come slowly.
Happy Friday!
If anyone is looking for a delicious filling but pretty healthy salad this one might fit the bill. I personally love a fresh lemon based dressing:

Add in other veggies like chopped tomato or diced banana pepper to get more vegetable impact.
I even eat salads in cold weather! Who knew!
Update to my earlier post - turns out I got to my meeting on Wednesday and lost 3.4 lbs from the last meeting! I was happy.
I have discovered the Walden Farms dressings! I have heard about them for years but was afraid to try them. Finally I broke down and found a sample type pack of single serves on Amazon. To my surprise I really like them. The Italian, Ranch, and Honey Dijon were all very good. The Creamy Bacon was meh…
Another discovery that is very delicious - Smart Cakes. I ordered some from Netrition. They are 1 point apiece. So far I have tried the coconut and tangerine. I have chocolate as well. Delicious and one cake is actually a decent size. They are pricey at 2.99 for a two pack but really satisfy that cake craving and a lot less points than the mug cakes. Worth a try.
You mean that there are people who don’t? I never even considered the possibility that salads were considered seasonal food.
^ …raising my hand…I’m just not into salads when it’s cold out. I want potatoes.
Veggie packed broth based soups are good for cold weather.
I like salads year-round – especially the ones from salad bars because I would never have that many ingredients at home at the same time.
But on a different topic – I can’t wait for April to be over. In conjunction with Earth Day and as part of a corporate responsibility program, my company has been conducting an intense month-long program to try to get employees to reduce food waste. Yet at Weight Watchers meetings, the leader often brings up the point that it’s OK to throw food out as a strategy for removing the temptation to eat things you will regret later. It’s hard to have two opposing messages thrown in my face. I feel guilty no matter what I do.
It is best to avoid salad bars during the peak flu season and during really hot weather.
OK, you have inspired me to try again. I am also a multiple WW lifetime member but in recent years have gained it al back and then a lot. I pretty much know why but trying again could make me more accountable. Just logged in what I ate today and am already over the points allowed. Now to find those 0 pt options
Agreeing with the earlier post about not taking your foot off the pedal. It’s hard! It’s gotten easier, though, as I’m seeing results.
I knew I had to pull an all-nighter last night to get a project out. The thought of running was pretty unimaginable, but I did it!! I ran and then walked from 11:10 pm to 12:10 am, then worked until 7:30 am. I don’t think I could have been as productive if I hadn’t run. And I didn’t snack on ANYTHING!!!
Quick list:
Fish, shellfish, chicken breast, turkey breast with nothing added. Deli chicken or turkey breast is not always 0 points because some brands have added ingredients.
Eggs
Almost all fruits (but not avocados, fruit juice, or some types of canned fruit – it depends on the liquid used for canning)
Most vegetables, including all nonstarchy vegetables, corn, and peas, but not potatoes, sweet potatoes, or vegetable juices.
Plain nonfat Greek yogurt. (It’s not zero points if it isn’t plain, but that doesn’t mean you have to eat it plain. You can add zero-point fruit or a packet of artificial sweetener and it will still be zero points.)
Beans, dried or canned. But be careful with these. They’re really high in calories.
I think also tofu but I’m not sure.
