DD and SIL are flying back from the big island tonight. They sent us a picture from their lodging, and they were uphill, and not in an evacuation zone. I’m sure we will hear more when they get back. I doubt they went diving or snorkeling today!

We evacuated to my sister’s, 1000 feet above our home. We had a lovely impromptu party. She made soup and red lobster cheese biscuits, brownies, tomato & mozzarella salad and also my other sister brought chicken and white fungus soup. I also brought melon and fruit, plus we brought some ham and sausage before the market closed.
One of her daughters evacuated to the house as well, plus another sister and a niece with her toddler, husband and 2 labs (who quietly stayed in outdoor patio). I read books to the toddler. One niece was stranded in Hilo because airport was closed so she was invited to spend night at her nurse’s home (instead of having to go to a shelter).
Have not heard anyone report any damage in HI.

Good to hear your family is ok! Looks like Hawaii escaped with maybe no to minor damage.
I have not heard of any damage to our state. We were very fortunate and especially so because it was fun getting together, even though it was unplanned.
