Basically agree with @SandDad . Our oldest is a male freshman and second, female child was just accepted into the Class of 2021. Our advice to her will be to sign up for pre-orientation if she finds an appealing choice. The wilderness option was a good fit for the boy and it served him really well, especially as he keeps up with those friends a lot. But he has made his own choices, and broadened his friend groups through a couple of activities outside of classes and dorm mates. He let the school choose his roommate and that has been fine.
It really is time to let the student carry the ball. Later, this summer, though, you will want to double-check that the process for paying the bills is in fact working!
