I can’t speak about Tufts. I’ve visited there but not as a prospective student. But as an alum, I can speak about Reed. You may already know this, but Reed’s physics department has been commended as one of the strongest undergrad programs in the country. Its other science departments – chem and bio – as well as math are also top notch.

In studio art, Reed has invested quite a lot in recent years adding new faculty and studio space, and compared to when I was there (when studio art was hardly given much thought, IMO), it’s become an area that Reed takes pride in and will continue to develop.

Here’s an interesting story of one Reedie with a math/art interest, and where it took her: http://web.reed.edu/reed_magazine/feb2002/features/quantum_mechanic/quantum_mechanic_index.html
