“SPLC is certainly willing to call out Muslims and Muslim organizations for hate activities:”
Willing to write a couple of articles, but not declare ISIS/Al Qaeda, etc as hate groups. Or did I miss it? Don’t see anything on their website declaring those groups as hate groups.
Apparently if you’re an advocate of traditional marriage, especially in one of the religion based groups, you’re included with the Neo Nazi’s as a hate group. But if you advocate, and act out on the execution of gays, meh…you’re not part of a hate group.
However, the difference is apparently that, in the US, AFDI (and various others listed) is out in the open and it and its leaders are readily identifiable. It is also non-violent and stays within the law, which ensures its continued existence. Daesh/IS or Al Qaeda may have cells or violence-prone sympathizers in the US, but they tend not to announce themselves prior to attack attempts, which tend to result in their death or imprisonment shortly thereafter.
Oh, it must have been a spontaneous reaction to an event. Not the acts of Islamist terrorists as such terms do
not exist in the current US leadership lexicon.
It was sarcasm!
Yes, the same deliberate non-sense spewed a while ago. Hard to call an act of terror committed by Islamists anything else than Islamist terrorism. Some are unable to do just that.
The only difference with prior terrorism is that an agent foiled the plan. It could have been a bloodbath had those animals been able to enter the center.
Well, we should KNOW about the messy undertones of the Gaza War. The cruelty of opposing soldiers and the cynical way to place your own children in arm’s ways. We should know more about the purpose of the death tunnels and how an impoverished “country” finds a way to spend so much on expensive rockets that are launched around the clock from purported residential areas.
Yes, we should know and we should have fewer distorted lenses that obscure the news. And then we can go back and ascertain the impact of acts of Islamist terrorism in various places of Europe and its growing threat in a suburb of a major US city. And along the way, learn from the reasons why people like the invited Dutch politician has been getting much traction in his own country.
We ought to understand why people Brussels to Amsterdam via Antwerp and Rotterdam have become sick of the “islamisation” of their cities and their … political or police forces.
But then it is obvious that many prefer to hurl terms such as provocateurs for whatever reason it might be. Perhaps it is time for theonion.com or SNL to retain beefed-up security forces.
The fact that some people call Geller a “provocateur” is pathetic in itself. What went on at this event is analogous to drawing a picture of Mohammed in your own home, and being murdered by a lunatic for it. No one was required to attend this event, and it was not held outside in public (not that doing it in public should make an iota of difference vis-a-vis violence). It is scary to me that some regular people venture to the rationalization that these people somehow “asked” for it.
I didn’t realize what had happened to Molly Norris as a result of spearheading the “Everyone Draw Mohammed Day,” until reading recent articles on this incident. Norris has had to change her identity and disappear for the past 4 years with the FBI’s help, as a result of credible death threats from Islamist extremists.
I find it highly unlikely that this group is trying to distract from Israeli soldiers abuses. Why anyone would actually be surprised that soldiers do bad things in an ongoing war, is beyond me. If Hamas actually cared about civilians, they wouldn’t be hiding their weaponry and launching rockets from civilian locations. Apparently their motto is, the more civilian casualties, the better. Anything to help their cause.
And perhaps now ISIS can get an honored place on the SPLC hate group list…as soon as they register a local office address.
The Jewish Federation does not want anything to do with her.
She founded SIOA, an organization labeled a hate group, by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
But if you agree with her intent, go ahead and support her.
We do have freedom of speech.
Although I had always though that the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theatre was illegal, but IDK.
