UC Application Questions Post Here

What does the personal statement question mean: “Is there anything you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?” Can it be any lifetime experience or do we have to explicitly relate it to our academic record?

write anything you want

its pretty simple english

“is there anything you would like us to know about YOU or YOUR academic record”

…what part of that did you not understand lol = )

what/how much do you put for “description” under the ECs?

and at my school we used to have a block called “activity block” where you could do all sorts of things… study hall, sports conditioning, play card games, etc., and it changed fall-winter-spring with the sports seasons. can my two terms of debate still count as a school EC, even though it was during school hours? probably not i’ll bet, but could it, if i specify of something?

It’s pretty tough to post on this forum without the threat of ilovecalifornia attacking…haha

You don’t have to report AP scores if you don’t want to. It’s not required.

I took a class in the community college after my 11th grade. When I tried to put it in my application, it puts it under my high school. How can I change that?

I had the urge (I even typed it out!) to say the same thing as ilovecalifornia but I figured lostincode’s response should be enough…

For this question:

" Prior to transfer, will you complete two transferable college courses in English Composition (not including English As a Second Language (ELC) courses)?"

apparently it’s supposed to say “Based on your course history you have completed this.” Does anyone not have this show up?

According to the video, if the system finds that your courses fulfill these requirements, it should automatically be filled out. I know I have fulfilled this requirement. Same goes for the qualitative reasoning. Is it because I’m coming from a 4-year?

haha exactly, johnzen sees the slowness in not getting that statement…

im not attacking, i’m just honest = )

lol don’t worry about it ean, nobody’s attacking you, we mean well ;D

startrakfinest: If you reported over two english classes in your academic history, provided they’re high enough level and transferrable, it should say you have completed the requirement. That’s what happened for me. I don’t know if it has anything to do with coming from a 4-year, rather it seems to be what you report in your academic history. Not sure though.

Maybe the system doesn’t recognize the course since it’s not from a CCC? But I don’t understand why it wouldn’t recognize a course from another UC.

i asked this question elsewhere and got no response but i wanted to know if calculating gpa should be done without +/- (as is done by freshman applicants). my UC gpa is based on +/-, should i recalculate or use that?

How far past the 1000 word limt do you think you can go

Originally I had thought the question read “Is there anything you would like us to know about your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in this application?”, but in fact there was an “…YOU OR YOUR ACADEMIC RECORD…” oh well I learned my lesson and will never post again for fear of rejection…hahaha

classes from a UC don’t show up as anything special… but I think they’ll note it

o rly?

1010101010

what kind of classes count for the math requirement? i’m taking a statistics (intro kind of stuff) class right now, would that work?
