Listen to assist. You’ll end up filling the general requirements anyways… it’s just saying you need four classes from somewhere in those three areas. Four classes doesn’t make up an entire two years, it’s only one semester. And again, if you do your other requirements this one shouldn’t matter at all, you’ve got it covered.

Some of your CS/math pre-reqs should be applicable to IGETC requirements… see if you can get anything to double up. IGETC is also better than trying to pick and choose L&S GE requirements, since you know it’ll transfer as planned and it’ll work at the other UCs you apply to. And yes, you should have a plan B… there’s always a couple 4.0 students getting rejected from Cal, it’s sad but it’s true that you should have a backup in mind.

Oh, and your CCC probably won’t offer all the CS pre-reqs you need. Shop around if you can, or take Berkeley summer session, or just don’t worry about them. But if you’re planning to do 61ABC or an EE class, plan ahead! They can be hard to find, but they’ll make your application stronger. You definitely don’t need them though (I transferred EECS, had none of CS61, CS70, or EE40/20), if you can’t find an articulation nearby take whatever CS your CC offers, but know that you’ll have to catch up after transfer if you do that.
