@Wadadli Same. I imagine someone hitting enter on the keyboard and then yelling “Run!”
I really hope they give all the results out by today. I have waited so long for this…
My UCB TAP advisor said that it will be announced after the admissions office is closed (late afternoon/evening). They do this so that they won’t be inundated with upset calls. Then, the weekend hits, so it gives people a few days to cool off.
These last few hours are the hardest. Good luck everyone!
@entirely I heard it’s around 3-5 pm. Freshmen’s decisions last month were released at 4 pm.
so different people is saying different time right now. oh no
@sammyclaire23 who is your tap advisor?
Ugh, I feel like the only reason I got rejected by UCLA may have been my income bracket that I stated in my application. Why do I feel like Berkeley will do a similar thing?
@BatWonder77 Why would a school reject you based off your income? The deciding factors are GPA, Personal Statement, Pre-reqs/Igetc completion, rigor of courses, and EC.
Admissions is need blind.
@DBillostas Gina Clayton! You?
Also, everything I’ve heard seems to confirm that there is no way in which course rigor can be measured.
@goldencub What about honors courses?
@insolus That’s the obvious exception - but even then, they’re not really measuring rigor, they’re recognizing a student going above and beyond. An honors course isn’t necessarily rigorous, too.
Anyone have an idea of when fin aid awards will be known?
@sammyclaire23 Same for me. Same for him. Same for a handful of us on here.
I just wanted to chime in to say GO BEARS!!! I just want everyone on this thread to know that every last one of you are capable of being more than just a Cal Bear, you all are going to graduate in a couple years!! I know schools matter to the vast majority of you because well…you are on this site but just know by taking the initiative and applying to Cal is an accomplishment. Sometimes in this world of social media and viewing what others are doing and accomplishing, we tend to forget our own accomplishments whatever they might be. So I hope you all get admitted and if not well, I can help with the appeals. Go ahead and ask anything since I’m procrastinating before dead week and I’m passionate about education =)
@mochiburrito That’s so sweet.
@goldencub Really? I thought they would take into account whether you have a 4.0 GPA from taking 1 or 2 classes in one semester versus someone who took 4 classes with a 4.0 in another. I can’t imagine them thinking a student who took 1 class every semester is as competitive as one who took 3-4 (obviously an extreme case).
@nidalee From what I understand, no, it doesn’t matter. Chances are, if a person is only taking one class per semester, they have other priorities (i.e. working full-time, taking care of children, etc.) - so taking only one class can’t really be held against them. And they got good grades at least, so that’s not really much of a problem.
But it would take somebody over approx. 10 years to be able to transfer that way - so I don’t see anybody ever doing that. That being said, a 4.0 is a 4.0 - it doesn’t matter if the course work is spread over 3 years vs. 2, or even 1.
So there is no real difference between an applicant who took 3 years at CC, taking no more than 3 classes at a time, and an applicant who took 2 years at CC, taking 4 classes per semester.
