UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

@BatWonder77 They are need blind. I don’t qualify for any aid either, but I’ve been admitted everywhere I applied. Financial Aid information is not used for the admissions process at all.

@goldencub , fair enough. Guess I’m just worrying too much because its my last chance to transfer.

@BatWonder77 What is your GPA/stats? Have you been admitted anywhere?

Someone should post the link to the admission decision thread right before they come out in this thread so people don’t have to search back pages to look for that link
Just an idea

GoldenCub Your comment doesn’t make any sense. Everyone has problems/distractions. “Working 40 hours” or “having kids” are only two examples. UC Berkeley would EASILY take the 3.8 GPA student who takes 5 classes a semester over the excuse artist 4.0 student who would spend 11 years taking 1 class a semester at Berkeley to graduate.

I wish everyone positive vibes as 3-5 pm approaches, and may a Xanax fall from the sky for those whose anxiety is through the roof.

Thanks, @mochiburrito!

@Jay6cutty don’t be depressed, you are going to be just fine and you are gonna end up at the place that you will love most

At the Cal conference today for transfer cousnsleors of other community colleges, they confirmed that decisions will come out around 4:30pm! Thank you to my transfer counselor for texting me!!!

@goldencub

Highschool GPA: I did the British A-Levels/GCSEs and got straight As and A+s (we didn’t have GPAs)
SAT I: 1830 (took in late 2013…so bleh)
SAT II: Math Level I (720), Math Level II (750), Chemistry (620) (took early 2014… so bleh again lol)
APs: I got one 4 and three 3s (these I did by myself for fun as my highschool was of British curriculum)
ECs: D1 athlete, have done 2 major internships at banks, done research work at a major university in my home country, am in many different clubs/organizations on my campus, have quite a few community services too. I also highlighted a few high school achievements/awards as well.
Essays: Both are really solid in my opinion, and other people’s unbiased opinion too haha.

Waiting on: UC Berkeley, UPenn, Brown, Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, UChicago, Stanford, Dartmouth, Yale, Johns Hopkins

@resonanx Thank you. I hope you will get a good news.

@Itsaboy This is only speculation, and nobody in their right mind would ever spend 10+ years at a CC, so it’s essentially pointless to dwell on that point.

@BatWonder77 Did you complete at least 60 units, and the equivalent of IGETC + major prereqs at your school?

@BatWonder77 Impressive. Why do you want to transfer?

It’s near impossible to transfer to Cal/UCLA as an OOS applicant, though - especially in something like Econ.

@hdoan24 , yes 60 units are done with. Umm haven’t done language, and also I’m not sure if I’ve completed Arts/Humanities up to 2 courses, not 3. But that’s because my school’s registration process for classes is so horrible. I couldn’t always get the classes that I wanted.

@goldencub , many reasons. I could write a book about it, no joke.

And I know, lucky californians -.-

Oh, left out that I’ve also applied to UT Austin

@BatWonder77 Hopefully you get admitted somewhere (either Berkeley or somewhere else). What do you hope to do after college, after curiosity?

Edit: Ah, good - I was wondering why you didn’t apply to schools that aren’t as competitive. I think you’ll be admitted to UT Austin, but I dunno much about transferring outside of the UC system.
