UC Berkeley 2023 Applicants Thread

Anyone know how much HAAS tuition is for In-State, not including housing? Only Tuition!

Haas is Junior & Senior year only.

@NonTradtional Tuition is the same for all programs at Berkeley ie COE, Haas, L&S etc

Anyone already set up CalNet Account Manager? What should be behind the section ā€œMy Affiliationsā€. Also, behind your IDs, does it say (campusSolutionsId)?

Definitely not a surprise for us with the tuition. I was just making an observation out loud more than anything. It’s not a financial aid letter, it’s cost of attendant letter lol. We are not hurting, we have been mentally and financially prepared to send our kids to wherever they want to go, no need for any kind of loan whatsoever. As @ProfessorPlum168 has pointed out, other private schools would have been more. Boston University, Carnegie Mellon and John Hopkins would have cost 5-10k more per year than Cal.

Stevens gave D almost 40k/year in merit aid, Rutgers would have cost 10K per year ! Penn State would be 20K. All great schools but it’s our choice to pick UCB just because we can.

@Sushi121212 you are a good kid for worrying about your parents financial situation. But trust that they are honest with you and they don’t want you to worry about anything but picking the best school for yourself. Like us they probably have been saving for your college over the last 17/18 years of your life.

UC SHIP (Student Health Insurance) is included in those fees. Check to see if you are covered under your parents’ insurance while you are at college. Then check to see how accessible care will be if you use your own insurance and opt out of UC SHIP. If it works for you, it would be an approximate cost savings of $3300/yr

@lkg4answers - What type of things do you get in a UC SHIP coverage?
Prescriptions, office visits, surgeries, etc?

The SHIP health insurance is very comparable to a typical PPO plan. At $250 a month it’s a bit on the high side, but if parents work for a small company with expensive health insurance, this might be worth it.

You have to show proof of insurance either way, you won’t be able to get in without it.

Does anyone know what is the admission contact email for UC Berkeley and how can I find my assigned admission officer in my portal?

@WilliamCollege: https://admissions.berkeley.edu/meet-your-admissions-officer

@WilliamCollege IIRC your Admissions Officer assigned should be right on the front page of your portal. Maybe all the confetti is hiding it.

@ProfessorPlum168 can you show me where it is exactly? all I can find is the admissions director’s name and another student also cannot seem to find it

@NonTradtional You can look up the benefits here. https://uhs.berkeley.edu/insurance/ship-benefits

@WilliamCollege Hmmm my kid’s MAP is now closed since he was in last year’s batch, so I can’t really help you much, but as I recall, it’s right on the front page, on the right half of the screen. Maybe they haven’t assigned one yet? You can call admissions to find out who it is, if it’s not there.

geez, it’s dead in here. i’m a third year cs major and i wanted to pay it forward to those considering coming to cal. pm me with questions if you have em. i’ve been trying to film a video to help seniors decide why to choose cal or not and helpful things to know, but i’ve been procrastinating on it. if i had to give my general thoughts the work here is generally a grind, but my friends and i are all grateful for the very relevant content taught and opportunities we’re given, especially considering this is a public school.

@socalemma Yes, I was! I was originally a regents candidate, so I know a bunch about the regents scholarship, but I don’t really know anything about this scholarship program. What’s the difference between them? And are there any perks to being a fiat lux scholar other than money? Thank you in advance!

@codergal I’ll pm you, if someone can kindly explain how to pm  thanks

@socalemma - Click the user’s name, then click the box ā€œMessageā€ then write your message.

Heyyyy I’ve been admitted and on my task list there’s a ā€œcollege/university transcriptā€. However I’ve never stated that I went to college during high school. Does everyone get this task and those who doesn’t have a transcript to send in simply ignore it?
Thank you!

I think you can ignore it. That probably applies to students who took college classes last fall or are taking this semester and did not have transcript available at the application submission deadline Nov 30, 2018.

Tysm!
