@bomerr yeah i heard that from people as well, and i have a revised 2nd draft that i hope is better if you wouldnt mind reading it? i feel like its more direct and more to the point as to the situation and why i want to go

sure, send it

@Bookham Send it over man! I’d love to read yours! Would you mind reading mine too?

@Bookham Oh that’s good! So it’s not like your grades changed massively or something? I’d love to read your appeal, it sounds really good by the reactions of others!
@bomerr Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely keep that in mind if I decide to write an appeal.

I’ll take a look at it. I’m applying to Berkeley to next year.

Wow I truly think your letter is really good Bookham. I’ve read some online before and yours is very different in that there is no sense of whining at all… you aren’t exactly telling Berkeley that they made a mistake of rejecting you, you don’t sound cocky, you just sound like someone who really hopes for a second chance, and I think that’s the best kind of way to approach this. I’ve read an appeal that was so cocky, I doubt the admissions officers enjoyed reading past the first paragraph. I’m not sure if I have any critique for this (I’m really bad at critiquing) but I’ll just say that your letter is encouraging me to maybe write my own, so thanks! I wish you lots of good luck, I think you have a fair chance and good reasons for wanting to go to Berkeley!

@toughTulip
I think those are the exact reasons this appeal may not work. They want whining, they want to know how their view was inaccurate and most importantly they want an interesting read. Remember this, there are a lot of other colleges in the bay area Bookham could go to so he could be closer to his parents.

Who wouldn’t mind take a look at my appeal?

@chaoscuber

I’ll take a look.

Hey you guys. Send to me. I’ll look over. I was a journalist (La Times, etc), plus I actually help ppl with essays. Trust me. I know how to write these things.

BTW, they do not want whining or showing them they made a deliberate mistake. Who wants that? Come on, that’s a fail. There is a tone you need to adopt which us in the middle. The person who told @bookham to get to the point was also right, although I did not see the essay.

@toughTulip
Thank you for your input! it makes me feel a little better about my chances although i know they are still slim. also i think if you have some kind of motivation/reason you wanna go to UCB, go for it and write an appeal. ill read yours and help you out :)

@lindyk8
My friend wrote about being an illegal alien, struggles with money, people judging him because of his skin color, etc. basically it was a lot of sob. Well he got into UCSD Econ with 46k in aid so only 8k out of pocket cost.

Hi, would any one read mine in exchange with theirs? Mine is for UCLA btw.

For any of you that appealed your UCB rejection, did your application status change back to “Application under review”?

I just checked my status this morning and it changed from my rejection notice back to “under review”.

I would just like to know if all appeals have their status changed on the system. At least it must mean they are really reading it.

@UCLABounded yeah id be up for a swap if your still interested
@UCLAx2 yeah it probably does mean that they are reviewing it, cause i havent submitted my appeal yet and it still shows the rejection letter on my portal even though i still have that little view appeal status section

@Bookham
Thanks for your reply! Good luck with your appeal.

Will someone please read my appeal??

Hi, can you guys share what you’re going to talk about in your appeals? I will not plagirize from you but just curious. I already have mine written but will post it tomorrow.

@Harren i wrote about how some family circumstances were a reason as to why my grades were not that good in the beginning, but how i changed and got better grades as a result, and basically just why i really want to go to UCB
@surpris3 i would read it but i dont think i can be much help at this point. but still if u wanna let me know
