***UC Berkeley Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

@rkn0706 Same… i felt so stressed when the guy said that

I wish they would just move the decision date up.

Brace yourselves for a heart attack on March 24. If rejected, buy a pot full of ice cream for comfort. If accepted, also treat yourself to a pot of ice cream. Its a win win situation.

I plan to use wine, actually. (I’m legal)

@mjstewart1224 Damn…I’m 17 so I gotta wait a bit haha

@mjstewart1224 Where are you from? Isn’t it 21

@itsmyusername I’m over 21. Long story.

What’s the recind policy for Cal?
I got above 3.0 unweighted for each semester of senior year. But I had 1 C in 1st and 2 Cs in 2nd semester.

@hiDreamer Don’t quote me on this but if you get more than 2 C’s you could be rescinded and keep at least a 3.0 UW gpa. Good luck!

Can’t believe decisions are almost a week away. Really hope I end up getting regents!

@BerkeleyEECS Wait, I thought all Regents candidates were already notified on Feb 12? Will there be more sent out?

@itsmyusername Candidates were notified on the 12th, but we don’t find out if we are actually awarded Regent’s Scholars status until the 24th… Also financial awards aren’t released until the 24th, and since whether you receive more than the $2,500 per year base award is determined by financial need, the 24th is a pretty big day even for those who’ve already been accepted! I know I’m biting my nails! :-SS

@itsmyusername sorry, didn’t mean to confuse you. I was early admitted, just waiting to find out whether I get regents now.

Ohhh yeah that makes more sense! Good luck to both of you, I hope you get it!

@GingerTea12: is the $2,500 per year confirmed?

Yes, Regent’s Scholars get $2,500 per year, for a total of $10,000 over four years, regardless of financial need; however, the scholarship is up to full financial need. On Berkeley’s financial aid website you can view the details of the benefits of being a Regent’s scholar, as well as use their financial aid calculator… They seem to calculate aid more generously than the other UC’s for middle class families because of their MCAP program… I received the financial info for UC Davis last week, and even with Regents there, my EFC for Berkeley is lower… Yay! :slight_smile:

@GingerTea12 - I’m not eligible for need base. I was hoping it was more than $2,500 since Cal is my top choice. UCSB and UCI offered more Regents aid.

sorry if this is a stupid question: but do u need to apply for scholarships for ucb? or do they just consider everyone?

@Yankxy i was emailed an offer to apply to a scholarship

Is there hope for the people who weren’t notified earlier?
