UC Berkeley CS Transfers

Yeah, I’d love to ask this same question too. But as far as I’m concerned, 3.8 is FINE, as long as you complete IGETC and most of the major requirements (not including the CS61 series I guess). I know a guy from my CC got in with 3.77, so don’t worried.

ECs are not so important, but it can help borderline students, like in your (and mine) case. I guess you should do some CS tutoring, look for an internship in the summer, join the computer club at school, etc. Don’t waste $75 to join AGS or Phi Kappa (watever name it is ==’ ) bc they do not give a damn about these clubs, as what I heard from most people. Few but useful ECs in which you hold leadership positions or similar are MUCH better than being an average Joe on EVERY SINGLE club at school

That’s all I can answer. I am applying to Cal L&S CS this November as well. My GPA is the same as yours (3.78), so good luck to both of us :D.

Oh and btw, you should look for CS61 Series’ equivalence at other schools nearby bc it will give you a HUGE advantage to start at Cal, since w/o the breadth requirement, next year’s competition is going to be rigorous. Me? I’m not going to do that since I still have a lot of pre-reqs to take…
