@USUG21 I have low test scores.
@math3matical What range for test scores do you think is low? I’m still confused about where I would fall…
SAT: 1340 (Math700,R+W640)
MathII: 670
Bio E: 650
They consider verbal section also i think.
Do they take AP scores also
@USUG21 On their website they mentioned that you send scores during the summer after high school graduation.

Is the request for LOR also visible through the application portal? I’m afraid of missing the email.
Yes. It is vissibel in map@ berkeley. Infact i first saw it thr. Then the mail was hidden in promotions tab…i saw it much later
Guys does UC Berkeley will accept my LORs as my recommenders submit the LORs an hour later than the deadline ? and secondly my transcript isn’t received to LSAC but it was posted to LSAC on 6th January
can you read the letters of rec after your writer submits them?
@jejiang no. i believe you can read them after the decision is out but don’t quote me on that
@DaCheaPet thank you!
@PivotXD I submitted mine November 22, and I got a LoR request on November 28.
All,
I did not receive any emails and missed the LOR request on the portal. The deadline was Jan 15th, but I saw it only on Jan 18th and got my recommendations in by Jan 20th. I checked my inbox (and spam folder), but have no email requesting the LORs. It was only on the portal.
Do you think UCB will still consider my LORs? Is there value in emailing the admission department and letting them know that I never got an email?
I have applied for Engineering Undergraduate program and I am an international applicant.
Also, is Berkeley the only UC that requests for LORs?
Thank you!
My daughter applied to all UCs last year except Merced and Riverside. UCB was the only once that requested LOR.
@Mudita LORs are optional to send after receiving a LOR request and they may ignore them if not received on time.
@grtd2010 : Thank you. Do you think there is value in emailing/contacting the undergraduate admission department and letting them know that I never got an email requesting the LOR and hence missed the deadline? I am scared that this might impact my admission chances. Considering that I got asked for LORs so late, I might already be in the 2nd filter. I am not sure why I din’t get any email, since I always get other communication from UCB on my gmail.
Hi @Mudita , to address your first question I think it might be beneficial to reach out to admissions to inform them of the reason you weren’t able to meet their deadline. I don’t know.
But a tip for you and gmail users: In the search area at top of email you should search for unread. As soon as you start typing unread in that search box you may see an option appear below it called label:unread. Click that and you’ll see lots of email messages you never knew existed. They aren’t part of your Spam folder but they are part of a new gmail filter called categories. Gmail categorizes messages (still within your Inbox) even from the same sender (UCB, for example) so some messages from UCB will go to Inbox and others will go to an Inbox category for Social, Promotions, Updates, and others. The LOR was probably categorized as a Promotion and stored it there. So once you see all your unread messages after doing the search you can check the box next to the messages you want just in your Inbox and click the label icon above it and then uncheck the Updates or Promotions box or wherever they got categorized and then click Apply at bottom of list.
What would someone with a 4.4 UC GPA (3.94 UW and 4.74 W–calculated by school) and a 2240 SAT (old version) be? Borderline applicant, yeah?
