<p>If it’s any consolation, the UC spots (as is the case with many private colleges/universities) take the stellar junior college students, first, because they have nowhere to go. Secondly, one diminishes their chances of any acceptance to the more-coveted UCs if they have picked an impacted major/school within the UC. </p>
<p>I am sorry for you incredibly high-achieving transfer applicants; CAL’s a great and interesting and eclectic place, but there are also other wonderful schools.</p>
