LORs are not just sent to borderline applicants (I am saying this with evidence since 7/9 early admits to UCB - the top applicants - were requested LOR.
So, either it is random, random with a bias for top applicants (most likely), or top applicants only (unlikely as 2/9 early admits did not receive LOR) process with LOR.
@AboutTheSame@Desiree2 I didn’t know it was knew this year, but they might not be only for borderline applicants, but rather for both the Early Admits (cause you gotta make sure they’re worthy), and the borderline people
Letters requested, and I was accepted as an astrophysics major! Really think that they made the difference, set me apart from the swathes of other Indian male applicants as a candidate genuinely focused on research, not one trying to backdoor into CS/EE/med.
@takeme Did you apply to college of chemistry? What was your weighted GPA? Did you take a very rigorous schedule compared to your classmates at your high school? Out of state?
