I got waitlisted for UC Berkeley. They said after June 1 they will be reviewing the applications again. Does anyone know when we will hear back?
Hey guys, I am kinda on the crossroads. I got admitted to Cal (transfer, Computer Science) after appealing, I just learned about it today. But I already accepted the offer from UC Irvine for CS and arranged everything there, signed the lease and am moving there from the Bay Area next week to be on time for the summer classes. I’ve learned different kind of stuff about Berkeley, good and bad, I don’t know if it’s worth canceling the move and UCI offer (it would involve losing some money besides the deposit).
Is there anyone in a similar situation? Help, I need objective opinions.
@othercsgirl my friend just had to deal with this, except it was for engineering at UC San Diego instead of Irvine. Even though San Diego was her top school, she had already finished all the paperwork for Irvine and didn’t think it was worth it. But it’s really up to you…
Wow haven’t logged in for a while and found out I have 2863 notifications and this thread has gone to 201 pages lol
I was admitted btw and hope to see you guys at Cal. Go Bears
future applicants who are gonna inevitably lurk this thread: don’t think too much about the “tricks” and leaks and hacks and whatever you end up calling ways to find out if you got in early, ultimately I don’t think anything we tried was indicative of admissions status.
- complete all your pretend and ge’s!!!!! Not doing this is the easiest way to get yourself rejected :((
- get good grades (duh!) but if you don’t have a 4.0 don’t sweat it bc plenty of people get in without one :)
- find a hobby instead of lurking this forum for the entire month of April like me lmao
good luck
@AroMina Hi AroMina, I also plan to transfer to Berkeley and major in cs. I have few questions about transferring into cs. I wonder can i ask u privately.
Hey guys, two quick questions if you have a moment:
-
Does anyone know whether we have to send high school transcripts if there is no CalCentral task for it? I’m really confused since both MAP and the admissions website (link below) tell me to refer to CalCentral. https://admissions.berkeley.edu/submitting-transcripts-uc-berkeley

Did I need to submit a Undergraduate Admissions Update form for taking summer classes at UC Berkeley? Or is that only for CC courses?
I’m probably super late on following up on these issues, but thanks in advance!
Re: hs transcripts, in my Berkeley congratulations email a few years back it said if I was using any grades from high school as part of my admission, I needed to send them. Go back and look at your admission notification.
It may have changed since then, however.
Thanks for the reply! I did not find anything about using high school grades, and only my Conditions of Admission asked me to send my official high school transcript. Strange how nowhere else there on my portal is there any mention of high school transcripts.
You probably need to submit a HS transcript to check for conditions for graduation - all UC students need evidence that they fulfilled American History, for example.
I’m pretty sure that you need to submit your HS transcripts ONLY IF it’s required (shown as a CalCentral task). I’ve attended HS in a foreign country, and I was really concerned because there is no way for me to get official transcripts mailed in a sealed envelope as it’s requested in the UC transcript page, but I’m glad they only asked for my CCC transcripts.
In My Academics almost everything is still “under review” for me though:
University Requirement Status
Entry Level Writing Satisfied
American History Under Review
American Institutions Under Review
American Cultures Under Review
I’m thinking that perhaps the classes I took to fulfill IGETC will not count for American Institutions or American Cultures? I did take two history classes at my CC but not Intro to Political Science or anything like that…
@ProfessorPlum168 Them checking for graduation definitely makes sense, though I am an international student (perhaps that’s why there is no task?) and remember hearing from my department counselor that American History is not a requirement for me.
@smsk I think we’re in the same boat then! I’m international, and from what I’ve read only a handful of other people have this issue of the task not showing up. As for the under review sections, my counselor told me it is possible to waive them if your high school was in another country.
For those who might have the same question, turns out since I am an international student (and therefore did not use any high school courses to fulfill UC requirements, my high school transcript does NOT need to be submitted. As the undergrad admit office and my admissions officer told me today, if there is no CalCentral task, you do not have to do it. If you had to and you went past the deadline, there will be an email sent to you about it.
what were your ECs?? congrats!

On the housing portal does it let you choose your move-in time slot? It still says for me that “the induction process is not currently available to you”.
Got Accepted!

Major : Chemistry
