That’s amazing.
Are you counting the DE in the 32? Or is it 32 plus another 10+?
For the honors/AP it’s each semester since freshman year and through the end of senior year. The DE is separate. She really didn’t have a set plan for DE classes when she started this during covid of her freshman year. She knew she wanted to do her foreign language through DE, but other than that, she just took classes that looked interesting to her and they are all over the board as far as subject matter goes.
That’s amazing, 16 AP classes plus another 10+ DE. When does she sleep?
My son did the same. Has completed 14 DE classes and when you add in his APs will complete his IGETC and a AA before HS grad. You might have her review IGETC as it clears all GEs at the UCs if you get it certified by the cc before freshman year starts.
Haha. It looks worse than it is. It has been spread out since freshman year and she has mad organizational skills. She has always taken a class or two during the summer though. I do feel that doing a schedule like this really has to come from the child and the enjoyment of learning has to be there. My son never would have done a schedule like this and would have been so miserable if he did. He is in his third year at Davis and loves it. Davis is amazing. He has had a great experience with his teachers, classes and the community. Great place. I highly recommend Davis.
Do you need to get the CC certify the classes? Back in my day, when you submit the final transcript to Registrar’s Office at the UC, they do that for you.
Some CCC’s certify IGETC on the official transcript and it will be done automatically, others require that an IGETC certification request (official form through admissions and records office) be submitted separately. Check with the CC where they attended to see what their process is. The university must receive the IGETC certification before they officially start in order for it to be honored.
Yes your last CC has to do the certification if you want the full IGETC which essentially “clears” the GEs. If you just want credit for individual classes the registrar does that based on what it shows in assist.org
Mine attended 4 ccs so had to have the last one verify everything and do the certification.
Is there an advantage of doing the IGETC for freshmen admissions? My D24 is admitted to several UCs and SJSU and is graduating HS with 2x AS/AA degrees by DE.
IGETC clears GEs at UCs except UCSD. An AA doesn’t necessarily.
Does anyone know if honors college invites went out as well?
For UC Davis, both Regents and Honors invites are usually sent out the same day that admission decisions are released.
Anyone here get honors invites? As far as I know, my d24 did not. That’s ok too!!
I didn’t think about that and I know my daughter didn’t think about an AA degree as she was taking the different classes. I think for her, that was probably the best route to go…
It was a navy blue banner with a few other banners - it was toward the top I think. My son scrolled a little fast and didn’t give me free reign to scroll around, lol.
Does anyone know if UC Davis is managing their yield for CA residents differently this year vs last few years. I see 75% fewer CA resident students admitted with similar stats as last year from my daughters High School in CA this year? I would think thats a big change in their approach vs the last few years…
btw: I just saw the same trend with UCI admissions at my daughters HS, they have offered 65% fewer acceptances than previous years…Anyone know if there has been a change in UC approach for yield management based on histroical enrollments from the respective CA high school
