UC Davis Class of 2029 Official Thread

Congratulations and hope you have a great time as an Aggie!!!

Congratulations! Is this original acceptance or getting off the waitlist?

Waitlist admits will not start until after May 1. I am assuming @Cloudrunner19 was admitted and just updating they have enrolled.

My D got admitted into L&S. I am not able to get the right information about double major / minor options. If she is interested in pursuing a major in Business, it looks like she cannot do that, since UCD doesnt allow double major into business now.

can she do minor in technology management offered by the business school if she is a major in L&S ?

please help. thanks
@Gumbymom @lkg4answers

Just to clarify, she is not admitted into the New Business major housed in the Graduate School of Management but into L&S for which major? The Technology Management minor is available to all Undergraduates and it is housed in the Graduate school of Management.

Yes correct. Admitted to l&s undeclared but will declare psychology soon. Good to know technology management is open for all.
Was also wondering about managerial economics in college of agriculture.

She could double major or minor in Managerial Economics and it would be best for her to talk to an academic advisor during Freshman orientation so she could plan out her schedule to include either minors or another major.

Can anybody talk about the bioengineering program at Davis, and how it compares to the program af Cal Poly SLO?

my daughter just got off the waitlist (~ 4:30 pst) for neurobiology. Hearing some waitlist decision activity for a bunch of UCs today.

I have son who is accepted at UCD for L&S - Undeclared: Physical Science. He recently was accepted off the waitlist for UCSB (also undeclared).

Looking at the majors/minors for UCD there are a large number which combine: Math, Computer Science, Economics, Technology, Engineering, Management, etc.

Managerial Economics, Applied Math (has some Engineering/Programming aspects), Mathematical and Scientific Computation, Mathematical Analysis and Operations Research. Just to name a few before listing Minors and/or combining with an Engineering Major.

I realize that this is research that we could have done before applying, but he is really undeclared and feels like UCD offers the opportunities to combine some interests.

UCSB has Math/Applied Math/Econ in the college of L&S with no chance of switching into an Engineering major/minor…and that seems to be it.

Am I missing something?

I can also post this in the UCSB thread.

FWIW…I also have graduates from UCB (EECS) and UCLA (Math) who both did not go onto pursue further degrees.

My point being that UCD seems to offer a well-rounded undergraduate math/cs/econ education that is hard to get at the other UCs (excepting the UCB MET program). Opinions?

FYI my son was accepted yesterday off the waitlist for civil engineering in state. He’s already committed to cal poly SLO…but can anyone speak to the civil engineering program at Davis? I know any UCs will be more theoretical whilst SLO more applied. Curious about the major though.

It does not look like you’re missing anything and it appears that UC Davis is the best fit for him especially the flexibility in pursuing the different areas of interest. My advice is he should attend the school that meets his goals academically, socially, financially and where he would be happy, since happy students will be successful students.

Just curious if everyone has been receiving emails (at least 3 so far) about the deadline to cancel the housing contract - just seems odd to be receiving so many?

Yes, I think they are just trying to make sure everyone who has signed up for housing is really attending so they can start the matching process. There is a lot of waitlist movement in May and early June.
