UC decision dates...

lol it’s about 5/7 on mine

I’m curious, I have heard many stories about people being admitted to Berkeley and/or LA and being denied from a “lesser” UC. This doesn’t really make sense to me- can somebody explain? Could it be done to keep peoples hopes up so that if the get denied from someplace like merced or santa cruz, they think they can still get into cal.

What schools did you apply to?

Aj, I think the ‘lesser’ school most Cal/UCLA people will get rejected too is UCSD, as it is the up and coming UC. I doubt very many Cal/UCLA acceptees will get rejected to the likes of UCR/UC Merced.

The idea is that they get rejected because they are overqualified. I think it’s mostly a load of crap.

so san diego or santa cruz are trying to make a statement or something?

I wonder if my acceptance to UCSC is a sign that I won’t be accepted to UCLA since I am not “overqualified.” Nooooo!

lol I was thinking the same thing with my UCI acceptance Nikkei… :-(

For one thing, UCSD seems to have trouble getting the cream of the admits. The average SAT of those admitted is ~1305 with GPA~4.1, but those who actually attend have av. SAT ~1240 and GPA~3.9. This is for fall 04.

anybody else get the ucla regents scholarship invite? I need ideas for the video- only things i can think of are to tape myself giving a onesided interview or to film myself doing the things i emphasized in my application? help

I don’t mean to scare you or anything, but I remember one instance where an applicant was denied admission to UCI but accepted to either CAL or UCLA (I forgot which one). That person had a 4.0 GPA in an impacted physical sciences major and some outstanding ECs. Again, that was just one instance so don’t take my comment seriously.

I know a guy who was rejected by UCSB and UCD got into UCLA. But his gpa was about 3.4 or 3.5.

Let’s all remember that such situations are only rare exceptions, as the vast majority of people who get into Cal/UCLA will also get into all of the other lower UCs they applied to. I’m willing to bet my life on that.

omg…I am starting to wish UCI rejected me.

lol, u guys are coming up w/ creative reasons for worrying…

thats part of the fun!

where’s gabe when you need him? he’s the utmost voice of reason on this thread =]

Does each school know the other schools you applied to?

I applied to Santa Barbara, LA, Cal, Santa Cruz, San Diego and at the last minute I freaked out and added Davis and Riverside.

** NO. ** Let’s try to avoid the conspiracy theories this year.

hahahahaha, their we have it.
