***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

Omg guys
My friend got accepted by UCI at 5:20. I think they start to release decision.

@Elsaaatt UCs seem to value the UC GPA a good amount, so a 3.5 might sting a bit, but you have a solid SAT and your ECs are great. So with good essays, you might have a decent shot.

Personally I got into UCLA with a 4.0 (compared to their average of 4.31) thanks to my 1580 SAT and (I’d like to say) good essays, so you never know.

@Elsaaatt Are you sure she’s not kidding you?

do they not release decisions all at once?

@Lyoder2051 The account is 10 minutes old. Probably fake

it’s rolling

@robotmachine No, UCI has rolling admissions.

A parent here with my son.
What will be the difficulty level for the below UC’s for ECON major?

  • UCSD
  • UCD
  • UCSB
  • UCI

thanks and good luck for all of us!

Sorry I cannot hit the reply button. But yayyyy she showed me the offer. OMG I am so jealous right now. I think they are sending decision from today to end of March.

@Lauris In general, UCI is considered most selective than UCD, but each school is unique in what it values and it’s not rare that someone might be accepted into a target or reach school and rejected to what they considered a safety, so like you said, you never know.

@Elsaaatt she must have been a transfer with TAG. I don’t think the regular decisions are out yet.

do you guys think its too late to change my major this late into the game? im afraid of getting waitlisted or denied just because of changing the major

no updates

@hqlminty I suggest you don’t do it right now. Wait until you’re accepted and I heard that the easiest time to change your major is during orientation, so I suggest u wait until then!

@hqlminty It won’t let you change your major anymore on the portal because the major change has been frozen since the beginning of March. Hope this helps!

@Elsaaatt I got into Emerson as well!!

nothing

nothing

@Lauris you cannot judge the difficulty of any school just based on overall selectivity, since some majors are more selective/competitive than others. I am no expert on ECON in particular, but when my son’s were deciding on school selection, I made a spreadsheet listing all the required major courses by campus for comparison to see if there were any glaring differences and if there were pre-req/screening courses that had to be taken prior to being allowed to continue with upper division major courses.

I do know that for UCSB, the required Econ courses needed to declare the major are known to be very difficult:

UECONOMICS MAJOR, B.A. – 2017-2018
In order to qualify for admission into the Economics major, students must complete Economics 1, 2, and 10A with a UC grade-point average of 2.85 or above. No grade lower than a C in pre-major courses will be accepted. In addition, students must complete PSTAT 109 or 120A, Math 3A-B or 34A-B, and Writing 105AA-ZZ or 107AA-ZZ or 109AA- ZZ with a grade of “C” or higher; the grades in these courses will not be used in computing the pre-major GPA but will apply to the overall major GPA.

so many amazing and qualified people here, so glad i am a part of this forum! wish you all the best guys, may you all be wherever your dreams will take you.
