the uc system is weird this year people got into usc but waitlisted at uci
@kazbrekker I want to submit a LOCI and show my senior year grades. If anything, they’re SO much better than my previous years… Last semester, I had all A’s, only one B (89.50 lol.) and this semester I have straight As. Taking 3 APs too.

I would assume that there’s no more acceptances. Maybe more waitlists. Rejections probably today or tomorrow
Just called the admissions office. They said they are still in the process of releasing decisions and there are still acceptances coming out.

It seems like they are waitlisting people with higher stats and accepting people with lower. This doesn’t make any sense.
For those who complain about getting high stats and being waitlisted or rejected, here is an except from their admissions website- “If you’re like most applicants to UCI, you excelled in high school or your current higher education institution. Congratulations on your success!
But there’s more to a UCI student than a great academic record. At UCI, we also value uniqueness. So whether or not you have the highest GPA or college entrance exam scores, we want to know what distinguishes you from everyone else.”

uci didn’t ask for a portfolio (uc davis didn’t either – i’m guessing it’s bc art major isn’t that heavy in those schools)
W GPA: 4.16
ACT: 28
EC: President of a club that works with children in an elementary school (self-publishing books), served on board of a club that works with animals in shelters and the disabled, NJROTC (2 years in a department, 1 year as Director of Media, 4 years total), temple volunteer, internship relating to art
I also went to CSSSA during the summer going into my junior year at CalArts and attended Ryman Arts for all 3 terms.

Not sure what they waitlisted me on if they don’t have a portfolio to reference off of, but my only guess would be my stats compared to others who applied for art as well.
