My daughter was accepted to UCI into Mechanical Engineering and just today received a letter saying she is a Regents Scholar! She has a friend who received notification of Regents with his acceptance, so she knows hers is “late”. Did anyone else just hear today, or since admissions were released? Is this a case of someone else denying their spot/achilarship and the scholarship “floating down”’to her? In any event, it is very exciting, we are just curious about the timing of it all!

Yes, it is possible that another student declined admission and the scholarship so they offered to your daughter. Congratulations to her!!!
Has anyone received their financial aid packages yet? I know some people have received a package from UCSB. I feel I am starting to get impatient or that something is wrong?
We were notified last night that she also received the Director’s Scholarship.

I just got an email that my financial aid was available in the ZotAid website just now, but when I log in, it says I have no financial aid packages available. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes, my son got zero aid from all the colleges that he got emails from.
Assuming you completed FAFSA, usually if no merits, and grants awarded, the cost will be parent’s responsibility available as parent plus loan. I have not looked at our UCI package yet, but every student who has completed FAFSA automatically will be offered a $5,500 loan in subsidized or unsubsidized loan.

I really Enjoyed reading your assessment. Very interesting. Do you know what the 12-13 things are that are assessed in the holistic review process and in what order? Also, UCSB uses Hybrid, not sure what that means…Thank you
