UC IRVINE Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

My bets are on today or Friday.

@fashionista99 thank you! You too!

If it’s today, my guess if 5 pm. Also for everyone whos waiting, the freshman class who got their decisions in march got their first wave on a Friday like us and at the same time as us which is 4:30. Their second wave came 4 days later on a Tuesday, around 5. Maybeeeee just maybe there Is a trend there

Did they send both acceptances and rejections on that Tuesday? It’s starting to get to the regular applicants like myself now.

My hopes are high for today!!

Yea they send a mixture of stuff. There were waitlists, some acceptances, and rejections.

Last year they sent acceptance first, and in the last few days they sent waitlists and rejections.

do many transfer students get accepted from the waitlist? I got waitlisted in high school to uci but I was not accepted.

@MISSJOEY right

last year fall transfer went like this (I was there ?)

1st batch: Tag & H2H acceptances (non accepted tag went to regular pile)
2nd batch: regular applicant acceptances (15 days later)
3rd batch: all waitlist (5 days later)
4th batch: rejections (2 days later)
5th batch: waitlist acceptances (one moth later)

According to AIM Educational Services, the waitlist admission rate is 3% for UC Irvine.

However this year is showing to be a little different with tag & h2h just hearing back a few days ago and all decisions have to be out by the 30th ?

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting accepted as a transfer if your major states that no prerequisites are required for acceptance but that courses are recommended ? For example , my daughter completed 2 of 4 recommended courses for the Sociology major but has a 3.8 GPA and will have 60 transferable credits .

I keep on checking the portal like twice every hour. :neutral:
I seriously need to chill already :smiley:

same here

@Nmg123 Hi there! So because your daughter has completed some of the recommended courses for Sociology, it does put her at a higher advantage compared to another applicant who didn’t. An admission counselor once told me that seeing someone put in the work for courses that are not even required is impressive. The way I like to see it is, if a course is recommended, it’s required.

In addition, your daughter having 3.8 GPA is quite competitive. I think she will have a good chance, according to the UC Transfers by Major website, as she does fall within the admit GPA range of last year (3.37-3.83).

Best of luck to your daughter!

Do you guys think that there will be any regular decisions posted today?! I don’t know if i should be getting my hopes up or not haha

I don’t think anyone has any idea :frowning: We all hope so though, I’m trying to keep my expectations low bc I keep getting disappointed the longer this drags on lol. I hope we know by Friday at least

If it’s recommended it’s technically part of your lower division curriculum. You’re only “recommended” to take it because generally students are usually busy completing other requirements so they won’t have time before they transfer. Of course if you do you should definitely take it especially if you don’t have any other classes to take.

can you send me the link my insta is @reinareina0123

@fashionista99 Thank you for your insight!
