UC Riverside: I've been admitted

@asphyxiac - see above…
IGETC: finished
Pre-reqs: 2/4

Congratulations are in order for those who got in. :D

I’m curious about what Grimes99 is referring to…

My stats
Major: Theatre
GPA: 3.5
TAG: Yes
IGETC: Will be completed by the end of Spring 2011
Pre-reqs: None required
Other: first generation student, professional theatre experience

I just logged in to see that I was accepted!
Stats are
3.5 gpa, Women’s Studies major with IGETC done this Spring. I also applied to UCI and UCSB with TAG and UCLA and UCB. No prereqs for me. Little to no extra currics, but I did work 30 hours a week for 75% of my CC career.

Something i find funny is that they send us e-mails about iphone apps and twitters, but when you when get accepted they don’t send you an e-mail letting you know haha, you just have to keep checking.

Is it just me, or is UCR’s “Congratulations” letter very juvenile? Consider:

-Two exclamation points after the first word (not just one or three). And, of course, the note includes far too many exclamation points overall. Of the letter’s fourteen sentences, seven end with at least one exclamation point.

-Mixed use of dashes, including a faux em-dash (“–”), which I admittedly use in forum posts or casual emails from time to time, but would never use in a formal letter.

-“…say yes “SIR” to UC Riverside!” Really, guys?

I admit, after this, I’m really looking forward to UCR’s welcome packet.

@nick:

Haha just wait for the welcome packet… it has floating orange slices with random statues and planets. I’m telling you… total coke bender.

Seriously! My boyfriend and I laughed hysterically at his acceptance email/packet last year. It looks like someone was on acid. Who looked at that and thought “This is a good idea” ?

Oh gosh. Can’t wait to see what comes in the mail.

I’m looking at last year’s now hahaha. I forgot it was a pop up book too.

I want to see how last years looked! post pics?

Hmmmm, logged on to myUCR and got this :
We have received many, many applications from students who want to make UC Riverside their campus of choice! Our admission counselors are working as quickly as possible (and drinking a lot of coffee to stay awake and work on your application) to review and assess your application and want you to know that as soon as possible your admission decision will be posted.

how is it that some people got accepted BUT ME!

Anyone accepted who DID NOT have 60… basically anyone accepted w/ less than 60 units?

^ you have to have 60 units by end of spring or they won’t accept you.

@twistnswif:

I present to you, last year’s UCR acceptance pack:

http://img.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/v153/Grimes/ucr.jpg</a></p>

Question out of the blue:

Is TAG 100% as long as you have a 3.0 and the required pre-reqs?

Omg!! Is that a Children’s book? Lol wow

Hahaha! I would’ve applied just to get my hands on that thing.

@grimes

I can’t convey to you the sense of joy that photo brought me.

That book is so terrible, it’s awesome, which makes me give UCR another thought. Then, I remember it’s UCR we’re talking about, and that a terrible publication of theirs was so bad that it almost convinced me to take them seriously. And when I realize that, I realize that the school is genius, which again makes me want to consider it seriously.

^^That’s what viewing that coke-influenced design did to me. I practically got high just looking at it.

Hahahaha.

I’m telling you, don’t look too long, it might convince you to visit… then before you know it you’re SIR’d and moved in.

Check the random renaissance character chillin on the earth playing an electric guitar in the top left corner hahaha. And what are the guys in the middle flying in? It looks like some sort of an airplane made from a brown squash-like vegetable.

Congrats, even if not your first choice, finding out admissions is exciting IMO :)

But yea their acceptance letter sounds a bit juvenile lol :P
