Any new rumblings on decision date? Guessing not.
2023 decision date: Friday March 17, 2023 3:30 PM PST including Regents.
2022 decision date: Friday March 18 around 4:30 PST
2021 decision date: Friday March 19 around 4:30 PST
Thanks! Hmm. If I were a betting man, I’d guess Friday 3/15…
Is it true that UCSD Admission’s places a student application in a pile with other students from the same high school? And then does a comparison?
As part of the UC comprehensive application review, an applicant is evaluated within the context of their HS and could be compared to their peers but they are also evaluated as an individual (this is where the Awards/Activities and PIQ’s come into play).
Unless someone works in admissions, the actual details are not known.
How UC’s review applicants: How applications are reviewed | UC Admissions
Our counselor who is on the admissions for a top level UC ( not UCSD though) says that all kids are compared to other typical students from their school in past years. All kids from the same county are reviewed by the same admissions officer so that person knows what the schools demographics are, how many AP are offered and has a history of the past admits and gpa etc.
I think they are reviewed in comparison to your schools historic data not necessarily to every student at that school but since the same person does review everyone from that school they probably do compare them even if subconsciously.
Are you referring to your HS counselor or a private counselor?
I think you left out a word. They are on the admissions [what?] for a top UC.
Is anyone able to see their major next to forms in the yellow section of the portal home page where it says “Review & Submit”? D24’s friend sees it and said it appeared today, but we don’t see anything.
Nope, don’t see it.
@ikg4answers Sorry for confusion. The HS counselor also reads applications and works for admissions at a UC I don’t know what the title is called. It’s a part time position and the counselor reads admissions and evaluates applicants for a certain region at a UC campus. The counselor reviews applicants from a county far from where she works. Aka she doesn’t have any influence over kids at the HS where she works bc her assigned area is hundreds of miles away. I hope that makes sense. She explained that they admission reps get intensive training on their assigned schools so they know that school well.
so what is your guess @Gumbymom on when UCSD will release their decision?
You have been pretty good with others so far. Thank you for helping out
I’m not Gumbymom but it is speculated that UCSD will come out 3/15 (along with UCLA as well)
@Aafat
My guess would be March 15 but the UC’s are always full of surprises like UCI yesterday.
so…
UCSD: 15th March ( Speculated)
UCLA:15th March ( Speculated)
USSB: 19th March ( Official)
UCB: 28th March ( Official)
UCSC: No later than 20th March ( Official); Likely 15th March
Yes, but I would put my money on UCSC also announcing March 15. They also post decisions before the “by date of March 20”.
You might be right - just got this email from admissions - looks like they’re getting ready to announce!
