My bad! I should have clarified. I want to compare courses from UCSD with other universities. Based on my research, this can be a tricky project because similar sounding courses can be different in terms of depth.
Thank you for clarifying. Is this for possible transfer?
No, just to compare how the curriculums compare against each other.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to compare curriculums between different colleges and even colleges within the same system like the UC’s.
Has anyone received College Financing Plan yet? We still didn’t see any finanical aid information on the portal. Thanks.
We are still waiting here as well! My guess is the earliest will be early May. So hard!
Not sure if it was posted earlier, but there is a change for continuing students in respect to selecting their major starting Summer 2025 (pretty much all engineering/CS, bio, data science):
https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/majors-minors/selective.html
“They will then be considered for the major using a point system that awards one point each for having a 3.0 GPA or higher in the major screening courses; California residency; Pell Grant eligibility; and first-generation college status (as determined by information received at the time of initial admission to UC San Diego)”
So if you are a California student with a good gpa and college-educated parents who earn more than 45K, you will be always behind by points than a first-gen/low income student from California, no matter what gpa that student has.
I feel very sorry for OOS students given the amount of the tuition they pay.
I think this is deplorable. But I admire the transparency that UCSD has shown here, instead of hiding behind the cloak of “holistic” process with the same objective.
What are the potential long term implications of this move?
There is another thread where this is being discussed.
Consequences for admits would be don’t accept if UCSD admits you as undeclared, unless you qualify for the extra points. It may make it more difficult for UCSD to find WL admits as the offer is often for an undeclared major. UCSD’s bio college was not difficult to declare in later quarters. That will change.
Middle and upper middle class will still apply for now. But, those accepted undeclared (I know a few from this cycle) should decline the admit. Over time, it is possible fewer middle class and upper middle class will apply. If parents perceive their kids are at a disadvantage, why spend the money and risk even more emotional upheaval?
Anyone here who attended AIP session on Triton day? Can you please summarize AIP? There are disparate pieces of info on the webpage and I am not clear what is the program about. Thank you in advance for your help.
Anyone here trying to make a decision between UIUC CS and UCSD CS? This is turning out to be a NP hard problem:).
Today my son got email from ucsd for chandelier scholarship total $20,000 , every semester $5000. Is this different from regent ? There are a few benefits, specifically class register. I am just curious.
Chancellor’s scholarship has several of the same perks as Regents but not the same scholarship.
Congratulations!!!

We still haven’t received our Financial Aid offer. Is anyone else still waiting as well? We’ve reached out to FAFSA and it appears it’s been submitted to UCSD on their end. We’ve tried calling the Financial Aid office but no one answers.
Where did you end up going?
She is at UCLA and is very happy except for bloody fire everywhere.
It was hard choice between USC & UCLA.
