we are oos. except for teh gpa nothing else we can achieve. we are not from california, not first generation . I do not think pell grant eligible
You can use it for Non-selective majors only.
If that is true then changing majors into a selective major will not be possible.
not fair. As an oos we need to pay 80K but not allow to study what we want. so discouraging for my child.
Unfortunately this is common at competitive publics across the country for both instate and out of state students - I’ve seen similar complaints at others. The common wisdom is that if you wouldn’t be happy with the major you (your child) has been accepted into it would be better to go elsewhere where you have that admit.
UCSD recently changed their selective major criteria. There are many unhappy students about the major change process.
Changing into UCSD’s selective majors has always been a very difficult process but more so now.
