@Anxiety2015 you are the real mvp.
@Anxiety2015 thanks so much for this info! idk it was just frustrating to know strong the stats were for the housing trick because i literally couldnt find a single post to defy it from last year’s thread
@friedchips we have to keep in mind the college confidential posters are an incredibly small sample size.
SMH This isn’t good for our healths at all. Stress levels are at an all time high.
@Xaeyvr I took general chemistry 1 outside of California but that’s the only one. I took physics, gen chem 2, o-chem and my calc series here. The rest of my UC applicable units from out of state were towards IGETC.
@IWannaMakeDrugs if you took most of you major prereqs at a CCC, you should stand a chance in getting in. At least you’re not me, an OOS applicant.
@basAlbus even though it’s a small sample size, it’s still really strange as to how consistent the housing trick has been
The fact, that there are two different housing messages, is also very strange.
The sample may be small and not random. But I spent (wasted? :-?) some time today going over both the 2013 and 2014 UCSD transfer threads.
Among those who disclosed their housing message status, I couldn’t find anyone who got accepted and said that the message stayed unchanged, or similarly, anyone who got rejected/waitlisted and declared that they had the new “good” message.
As a disclosure, I actually got the new message on Friday (04/10) morning, and I was trying to research the validity of the trick today.
Good vs bad housing msgs historically means the good ones have some sort of wording that someone somewhere decided means you’re in because of some backdoor glitch, and some alternate wording is BAD because it means, through deep analysis and ouiji boards, that you won’t get in.
Housing tricks are myths. @Anxiety2015 was just pointing out that some ppl who supposedly had the bad wording got in and some ppl with good wording didn’t get in. It’s all arbitrary and meaningless.
I would just wait for the 17th. As a student who has the changed housing message, I’m not going to let my pride blind me.
To help 2016 Fall transfer students, let’s include whether we received the “good” or " bad" message with our admission decisions.
wait a second… why didn’t 2014 transfer help us out with this dilemma -_-
Everybody should make it a point to come back after decisions and post their housing message and admission result so that the 2016 transfers can stress about it next year as much as we are right now.
When is the last day to do the housing? Also I just notice on my app that it says provisional contract… do all transfers have a provisional contract?
@damnImwaiting I really think that the new message was given, not necessarily to students that are going to be accepted, but to students who will have a decision released soon.
Perhaps the ones who did not have the message change will have their decision posted by the April 30 deadline.
This is just a hypothesis!
So if 17th is our decision date, will it be the final decision? I heard last year the second batch was the final one.
Anyway, I’m trying to a little research on the school. How is UCSD academic, social, environmental wise?
They call UCSD UC socially dead, and apparently the school upholds that nickname. However, It really depends how you like your social setting. Nevertheless, UCSD is known to be one of better UCs regarding academics.
I advise you visit the schools you have been / you will be accepted to. To illustrate, If you get into UC Berkeley but can’t handle studying 24/7, you might as well go to a UC that is less academically stressful. You’ll be happier with yourself
I’d say UCSD seems socially dead compared to other school because unlike UCD or UCSB, San Diego isn’t really a “college town” where most of the people who live there are students. It’s a big city and has a lot of things you can do. Not to mention La Jolla is one of the more expensive neighborhoods to live in so unless you live on campus I don’t think you’ll find a lot of undergrads living on there own in/around the area unless there parents already live in La Jolla.
I’d also consider joining a sports club for more social interaction.
@jhern17 hmm that would be a good guess but people with the bad housing messages had their decisions released on the same day as the people with the good housing messages!
