I started writing my UC essays at the beginning of my Junior year so I had them revised by my AP English teacher multiple college counselors, many of my peers and my college mentor. I focused on my family experiences and struggles as well as my passion for economics and how my extracurricular activities tied everything together. I tried to use all of the parts of the application as a way to build an image of my persona and I think I was able to accomplish it thanks to all of my peers and ESPECIALLY my Counselor from Fulfillment fund.

Reflection

Strengths: Extracurriculars and PIQ’s
Weaknesses: SAT score and completely rewritten PIQ the day of the submission date
Why you think you were accepted: I think that I was able to depict everything that UCSB was looking for by using my PIQ’s as a way to connect all of the dots together throughout my application. My extracurriculars, as well as my school context (average sat:800, average GPA: ~3.0), in my opinion, played a huge role as well.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Cal State University Long Beach, Cal State University Northridge, Cal State University Fullerton(Honors). Currently waiting on UCLA UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, Columbia University and Emory University.
