any psych majors get accepted? any one get denied?

hi everyone! I was accepted through the portal and through e-mail at 12:05AM on March 17th. I’m a Chemistry major (concentration in biochem), and my last name starts with W. I’m local and I TAGGED to UCSC (first choice), have all my pre-reqs done (just finishing up the physics series this semester and then taking discrete math for fun/counts as an elective for my math minor) and my GPA I think is like a 3.83?? I can’t remember exactly off the top of my head but it’s somewhere around there!! Hope this helps people who are still waiting for results, GOOD LUCK I’m rooting for everyone!

Hello everyone. I got accepted as of this morning, however, no email was sent. I applied for Electrical Engineering with a 3.42 GPA (no TAG).

I’m a psych major too… still waiting and I submitted a TAG

I’m a psych major and got accepted yesterday

I got accepted today (March 18) !
Sociology major w/ a 3.81 GPA
Good luck everyone! I was expecting to hear back much later considering I wasn’t in the first wave, but ended up hearing back today. Keep checking your portal every morning!

Applied: Humboldt State, SFSU, CSU Long Beach, SDSU, CSUSM, UCSC, UCSB (tag), UCSD, UCLA & UCB.

Accepted (so far): Humboldt State, SFSU, CSU Long Beach & UCSC

I haven’t been rejected from anywhere I have heard from so that is a good sign!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Comp Sci TAG here, still waiting for a decision. I’m worried that I’m going to get rejected because the TAU I submitted in January had a different course schedule than the one I submitted in my TAG application. I also submitted another TAU in late February because of a slight mistake I made reporting my Fall grades in the initial TAU.

Also I received a D in a major prep course(that I took as a high school student) but retook that course for an A, once I entered a CC.

My major prep GPA never dropped below a 2.8 and is currently sitting at a 3.3 for 5 courses.

I’m praying everything is well.

@anishtheind I don’t think you should worry about your TAU classes being different than what you reported on your TAG application. I switched several classes and was just fine (although my major is less impacted). I emailed an admissions representative a few months back and she said that even if the courses are a little different, if you still meet the minimum requirements you should be fine. As for submitting a second TAU, I submitted like four lol. My counselor said that as long as you submit the original one on time, you’re fine. I also don’t think classes you’ve retaken for a better grade count against you. I took a ton of college courses while I was in high school and bombed most of them, but I retook them all. Honestly, I think retaking classes looks good. It proves that you’re ready to succeed and should no longer be held accountable for past mistakes. Good luck!

@anishtheind If the course you changed is not related to your major prep nor is it an English class, then just let them know. It won’t impact your decision in that case

I think I’m more worried that my retake course doesn’t count actually count as a retake since I took it a different community college. And this was a major prep course (ofc I didn’t know that when I was in high school). I’m hoping they count my retake into my major prep GPA, rather than the original course

@anishtheind Oh, yeah. I do think you need to retake it at the same school, but if you tagged it shouldn’t matter to have that D on your transcript as long as you meet requirements. It’s definitely bringing down your GPA because the retake won’t be counted, but it sounds like your GPA is high enough that it shouldn’t negatively impact you.

Yeah, I’m just hoping they won’t rescind my application since I listed it as a retake if it wasn’t

@anishtheind I would get in touch with admissions ASAP and let them know. If you’re upfront and honest about your mistake it looks good.

@Skister Did you finish IGETC and all the required courses?

I got in touch with a counselor, and this person said admissions will double check coursework during evaluation. She also mentioned that the Comp Sci department has not started reviewing applications yet.

As in reviewing

As in reviewing applications for admission?

If so this makes sense. I noticed from checking prior year transfer threads that it’s mostly social science and natural science majors that hear back first. Also business/economic majors.

For cs majors like you and I, the earliest I saw was late March but the bulk in early/mid April.

@PhoenixWolf yes, I mean reviewing applications for admission. But it seems like people have already started receiving decisions from the Math, Biomolecular, and Electrical engineering departments in the School of Engineering

would you mind sharing your GPA? Im still waiting under film major !
