@SoCal79 - hey call them and say that you will complete the missing pre req in the summer. give it a try…

Oh thanks @wilson but I’m happy with UCI.

Hey everyone! My name is Michelle and I got accepted to ucsc…very exciting. I’m majoring in political science and am still unsure if I will be attending. It was quite an honor to be accepted to such a lovely institution. Is anyone else here a poli sci major?

@mdogwhat Congrats, Michelle! I’m not a poli sci major, but that’s really cool that you got in!

I asked this question on the UCSB board as well, but what do you all think of my chances are as a UC to UC transfer (from UCM to UCSC) with a 3.1?

Pre bio, neuroscience, but I’ve found I’m not too great at chemistry so I would like to change my major if I am admitted. Applied as physio major for UCSB and bio/edu for UCI. “Softs” include internship teaching high school students about energy conservation/sustainability, volunteering at a large animal shelter, and taking photos for a science club on campus among other things…

@Elliot

Thank you
I got my denial from cal
but oh well i am still very excited to hopefully be attending!

still haven’t heard anything… not sure because i’m not bio…can you possibly call?

So I take it with the appeal deadline passing yesterday, that if someone hasn’t heard back by now it’s essentially a rejection?

Ugh, I suck at pol sci lol. wouldn’t last a year as a pol sci major… for a fact. The campus is awesome from what I saw, when I was driving around there, I got lost a couple of times. I’m glad they had the UCSC app for my phone though, or I’d never be able to find my way out haha. Had a few student bertstare me a couple of times when I made a wrong turn into one of those place where you’re not supposed to drive into. saw a couple of deers which was pretty cool too. The place felt pretty empty to me when I was walking around porter, I guess everybody was in class or something during that time.

FINALLY accepted this morning!
Major:Literature
GPA: 3.87
IGETC: Done by end of this semester
TAG:No

I just sent in a form saying that my community college doesn’t offer one of the course I planned on taking during summer. I hope that my application doesn’t get rescinded :(

I don’t think the colleges care about your summer classes even though you put it on your UC app. I thought I read they review all your classes up until Spring before transfer. You would send in your official transcript before then *I think anyway.

I hope so :(

Edit:
This was the reply I got from admission

Dear Upper,

Thank you for your email. If a student deviates from the coursework listed on your application we require you to notify us and explain the change and the circumstances involved in making that change. We look at this plus the information on the application before making any decision on a student’s status. It is therefore impossible to say what the result would be from a schedule change in the final semester of school; we would need to collect all this information before making a determination on a student’s status.

You are correct in that all coursework for transfer students must be completed before the end of the spring semester/quarter. Courses taken in the summer will not count.

Please completely fill out the attached form including explanations for changes issues and return to ********@ucsc.edu. Make certain to save the form as a new document (PDF) and send as an attachment. Or fax to

Sincerely,
UCSC Office of Admissions

Weaknesses: GPA, definitely. Downward trend

General Comments: Don’t give up on a UC to UC transfer if you’re truly unhappy with where you are. Make sure you put school first. I could have done way better during my 3rd semester before the transfer academic update (had a 3.4 after freshman year), but I interned during the week and it ate up a lot of my time. Also, take some “filler” easy classes just in case you’re getting a C in something and you need to drop it. That way you’ll still have enough units for finaid. Plus, they’ll boost your GPA. DO NOT GET Cs

Good luck
See you at SC. GO SLUGS

-“Elliott”

Dear Upper,
Thank you for providing us with an update on your schedule. It is true that we did not extend an offer of admission for students that did not complete our selection requirements by the end of spring term as well as the major prep requirements for your major. You will need Econ 11A/B for the major but we were only screening for completion of Macro/Micro for the Business Mgmt. Econ. major. Our offer of admission will remain intact for fall 2013.

Sincerely,
Admission Person

So i got accepted as a transfer from community college with a 2.7 gpa as a biochem major. My grades have greatly improved and I played on the collegiate soccer team. I have all my igetc and assist coursework completed. In addition I emailed the school about a schedule change and they said it is fine. Best to be honest and let them know as soon as possible. Surprised I got in but Ill take it!! Just shows always worth a shot.

2.7? wow, congrats!

I’ll be seeing you this fall then!

There’s a few transfer pages on facebook. Check em out!

Have any transfer applicants who sent in letters of appeals received news back in the mail yet of their acceptance or rejection??? The UCSC website says decisions will be mailed back “no later than the week of the 13th” so I’m anxiously awaiting mail

How many of you guys have gotten a college affiliation? what did you get?

I haven’t heard back yet. I really hope I get my first choice.

Our housing app period begins on the tenth, so I think we’ll hear soon.
