UC "Tiers" or rankings?

I think it’s still recovering from the “narrative evaluation” years. Unfortunately, many saw this as a “pass/no pass” thing while, in fact, an evaluation could (and often would) offer FAR more information about the student than a simple grade. Profs could discuss specifics of projects, make comments about how it was to have you in lab, etc. It was a great idea, but didn’t offer grad school “a number” to plug in.
The school also has a reputation for “pot smoking”… I’m not sure that’s justified. There’s no “greek” frat/sorority thing going on, so I’m guessing that it’s actually one of the more sober campuses!
It’s a BEAUTIFUL place and very friendly. I suggest any potential applicants visit, see each college and judge it only then. :)
