<p>I can answer this based on what my cc counselor told me. I’m applying to LA and Berkeley as well. Basically, the breadth requirement exists separately from IGETC for students with majors that have a lot of pre-requisites. This allows students to finish their pre-reqs and general education without taking a boatload of bs classes. For the incredibly intensive majors like engineering with a mile and a half of pre-reqs, IGETC isn’t required and they highly recommend that student’s don’t follow it. Correct me if I’m wrong anybody, as I said i’m not entirely sure.</p>
