Berkeley engineering has breadth requirements that are different from IGETC and Berkeley L&S 7-course breadth. In particular, at least two upper division humanities and/or social studies courses are required, and at least one of them must be in the same department as some other humanities and/or social studies course. However, the rest of Berkeley engineering breadth can be fulfilled by a year of English writing courses and at least two other 3+ semester unit humanities and/or social studies courses at community college (and you can even try to hit the Berkeley campus American Cultures requirement with one of these as well), so you would only need to take the two upper division humanities and/or social studies courses after transfer.

For majors in Berkeley L&S (including economics), you can fulfill either IGETC or L&S 7-course breadth; for Berkeley Haas, you must fulfill 7-course breadth, which is the same as L&S except that some courses are excluded (mainly business, microeconomics, and macroeconomics courses).
