can i get into ucb or ucla with 4.08 uc gpa? ik that the 2025 was 4.15-4.29 so would a 4.08 really decrease my chances or would good ec/uc piq make up for it?

for cal poly slo, my gpa is 4.07. could i maybe get in there?

thanks for all your help

Did you apply? If so, you’ll see.

Schools publish ranges - but they are 25/75 ranges so yes, people get in under the range - and there are majors impacting as well.

Best of luck to you.

I am assuming that is a weighted capped GPA. What are your other two UC GPAs?

These campuses will look at all three UC GPAs (unweighted, weighted capped, and weighted uncapped).

I looked through your previous thread (Chance me for Stanford; give me like a percentage of chance I can get in. [CA resident, 3.88 GPA, 1540 SAT, biomedical computation or engineering] - #31) and I see that I didn’t get an answer to this question there, so I’m asking again

You can calculate the GPAs here: GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub

Edited to add, which UC campuses did you apply to? There is still time to add some less selective campuses if you do it today.

Sure, it’s possible. With holistic admissions, they will try to put that in context. They will also look at the rigor of your classes, your extracurriculars, piqs, school profile, etc. It doesn’t come down to any one factor, although GPA is very important. That one won’t keep you out, but acceptance will depend on the entirety of your application.

UCLA and UCB focus more on the Unweighted and Weighted uncapped GPA’s than the Capped weighted.

The UC’s use a comprehensive application review so GPA is only one of the 13 areas of criteria used along with your EC’s, PIQ’s and Intended major.

UCLA’s Freshman profile: First-Year Profile — Fall 2025 | UCLA Undergraduate Admission

Berkeley’s Freshman Profile: Student Profile - Office of Undergraduate Admissions

SLO admits based on the SLO GPA, HS course rigor, # of a-g courses taken above the minimums, Intended major, local admission area, first generation status, EC hours, if you held a leadership position and/or a major related job.

All you can do is wait for your decisions and hope for the best.

They still might want to add more campuses to the UC app or more schools to the CSU app… still a couple of hrs left before these deadlines.

hello i applied to all uc campuses and i havent calculated my unweighted or weighted uncapped so ill do that really quick and get back to you

Great! If you already applied to all UC campuses, you should have some options when the decisions come in.

hi! so i calculated everything but i think im confused…since the UC’s didnt ask for weightd uncapped or unweighted, why are they more forcused on that? Since they dont even calculate it…

UW UC: 3.7

WC UC: 4.73

The UCs calculate and use all three GPAs, using the course information that you give them in the application.

For example, you can look at this page from UCLA that @Gumbymom pointed you to. It gives stats in terms of unweighted, and fully weighted GPA. First-Year Profile — Fall 2025 | UCLA Undergraduate Admission

A fully weighted GPA of 4.73 is very high, so if that is accurate, it should help you at the selective UCs. But they are looking at a wide range of holistic factors, so admission can be difficult to predict. Good luck!

The UC Capped weighted GPA is statistically the most common GPA referred to in the UCOP admission data but not the only GPA calculated and considered during the application review. The capped weighted is the GPA used to determine eligibility.

As stayed by @tamagotchi and myself, GPA is only one factor considered in evaluating an applicant for admission.
