UChicago Accepts 13.38% Earl Action

<p>Yeah, I’m pretty sure Chicago tends to defer a lot. I don’t know the actual rate.</p>

The benefit for unrestrictive EA usually is a higher admit rate (which will probably still be true this year; EA rates for UChicago have already been posted). Also, I see a high deferral rate as a positive, since it gives you time to improve your app. However, UChicago might use deferrals as soft rejections. Some schools really do look at deferred apps with no bias; UofC might not.</p>

<p>In Stanford’s REA deferral letter, it says about 15% of deferred students are accepted in RD round. In Chicago’s admission blog, they say about 10% of student are admitted. With such high deferral rate of U of C, the acceptance rate for deferred students is not that much different from Stanford’s.</p>

<p>You’re right. And just to be clear, I meant EA usually has a higher admit rate than RD round, hence the benefit of EA vs ED.</p>
