<p>A Northwestern University police officer has been arrested, accused of firing a gun into the air while celebrating the Fourth of July, Chicago police said.</p>
<p>Wesley Jackson, 30, has been charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm, police told the Chicago Tribune.</p>
<p>Chicago police received a call from University of Chicago police after they heard three shots and saw muzzle flashes from behind a tree in a park, the Tribune reported.</p>
<p>Prosecutors allege Jackson fired several rounds across Lake Shore Drive and toward Lake Michigan, the Tribune said.</p>
<p>Jackson explained that he was intoxicated after drinking five beers and that he was “Just shooting at the lake–it’s the 4th of July and everyone is doing it,” according to a police report obtained by the Tribune.</p>
<p>Jackson is being held on $50,000 bail, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office told the Tribune.</p>
