Have any of the other accepted students received their financial aid award? I got a merit award as a University Scholar, but I can’t seem to find any link for financial aid. I’m a little concerned that this means I got zero financial aid outside my scholarship, which would make UChicago impossible. Anyone else having this problem?
@JungleJim4232 Woah 4000? Is that certain? That’s insane, but I suppose not surprising if you look at the results on here. I assumed it was around 1000 or so, but I could be wrong.

I got in! I really thought I had gotten rejected seeing all the waitlisted (I was at work) so I’m not sure exactly how this happened! @TheNICKNAME How do I post pictures on here. I’d be happy to show mine

You’ve still helped thousands of people, and I don’t see how what happened today reduces that in the least. Unless of course the goal of this activism was to get into a college, which I very much doubt it was.
The reality you face, in any case, is that your country has over a billion citizens, many of them with extremely impressive accomplishments. 1,250 of them can boast one-in-a-million accomplishments. My estimates put the number of RD acceptances for applicants from India at 50 or less, and difficult choices have to be made in narrowing 30,000 applicants down to a select few.

Waitlisted!! I’m actually very happy. I was expecting to be outright rejected, so I almost didn’t read down to the part where they offered me a slot on the waitlist haha.
@bobchillax I’m not sure about last year but this year they told us at the EA reception that around 4-5% will be accepted RD.

Honestly, I am so grateful that the likelihood of me sharing resources with you are at UChicago are so limited. Maybe UChicago didn’t like your essays. Maybe they didn’t believe you were a good fit. Maybe they detected the undeniable tone of entitlement and self-centeredness that oozes off from your words. Maybe there were more interesting Indian applicants.
Don’t get me wrong, I have so much respect for what you have accomplished and can only imagine how much of an awesome person you must be to follow your passion in your home country. However, to believe that they somehow need to accept you for your work- which is incredible, by the way- is just ludicrous, at best. They don’t need to do shit for ANYONE.
Now, I’m sure you’ll be way more successful than me on Ivy Day, so I wish you the best of luck…

So if I were to hypothetically get off the waitlist, will I be able to recieve any aid because getting in with that 60k+ price tag is just as bad as getting rejected honestly

And yes I’m self centred. Because for once in my life, I am allowed to be self centred. You go through all of the crap I’ve gone through and dedicate your entire life to something and when a university reduces that life’s work to a rejection, it hurts. A lot. Uchicago was always a reach for me. But I hoped to get in because I basically drew out effective plans to advance and enhance my entire activism work at my possible time at Chicago.
And one more thing, you don’t know me honey.
You cannot draw arbitrary conclusions about an individual’s life through the one comment they make in a moment of distress.
And I’ll try to stay as far away as possible from you (and individuals like you who don’t balk at making judgements) if I’m actually fortunate enough to get in, since that’s what you clearly want.

Greetings! I’m an EA admit from months ago (uncommitted). Congrats to everyone who got in! To waitlisted applicants – good luck, I really hope to see some of you on campus in the fall potentially. Everyone realize that this applicant pool was extremely competitive. You are all great students and amazing individuals, so do not let one university ruin that for you, okay? We are all extremely talented, and I just wanted to remind everyone of that.
