UChicago Class of 2024 EA / ED

hey @pig333 is it too late if I add a supplement to my UChicago account now? will The AO see it and is there any way I can ascertain it? Can I mail the AOs too?

To everyone who applied, good luck! I hope you all receive some great news in mid-December!

@Salahadden I could be totally wrong about this, but I am pretty sure you can add supplements to your UChicago account now.

Have a nice day.

as a mere applicant myself, i have no idea, but if you think that supplement will really help your app then i say go for it. shoot all the shots you have, but also maybe be prepared to apologize and/or have some kind of excuse ready if you do email your regional AOs? not sure how this process usually works, but they did extend the early deadline due to the fires and stuff iirc

That deadline extension was technically for those impacted by circumstances out of their control, such as the CTU strike or wild fires. UChicago tends to be gracious about accepting supplemental material after the deadline; however, you really can’t expect more than a few days of “grace period” given the huge number of early apps they get every year. So…get 'er done. Also, the extension was for “anytime before November 10.”

does anyone else have the message that UChicago is still processing materials on their UChicago account? Instead of listing what materials have been received?

I have a problem.
I realized last week that in my Why Uchicago essay I said “Common Core” instead of “the Core” or “the Core Curriculum” which is so careless and dumb. In the rest of my essay every specifI’m not entirely sure now what I should do - call attention to it by emailing my regional counselor to clear it up? Or would that make it look worse because it’s such a careless mistake…

@bear19 my application is also still processing…

My daughter’s account also says her application materials are still being processed… Glad she’s not the only one!

I felt that

That “application processing” thing is normal for this time of year. Eventually it will show that everything’s been received; if it hasn’t, they’ll be in touch regarding what you might still have to submit.

You can check the date stamp on your Common Ap account to ensure they’ve downloaded the application and rec letters.

it’s been nerve wracking checking my portal every day even though i know nothing’s going to happen until next month; thank you @JBStillFlying

@pig333 good to know I am not the only one checking daily for nothing.

Honestly thinking about it makes me worried haha. Like I know statistically it is super unlikely I would get in, and I am dreading the rejection.

@threechimneys agreed. the numbers are haunting me and telling me i’m going to be another bloody casualty come december whatever-th. just bracing for the end at this point

EY people, I checked on my UChicago account and it’s showing 7 things things in which the three are indicating as “other” and a "Chicago supplement, the ED agreement, International financial documentation and the foreign aid supporting docs. I just wanted to catch up, I dunno what are your accounts over there showing?

Anyone else KNOW they’re gonna get rejected but still have some tiny semblance of hope??

@Onelove432 YES! That’s exactly how I feel :frowning:

application checklist’s up. we’re really in it now folks.

on a side note, anyone hear about penn’s 14% ED application drop. not that uchicago’s gonna reveal any hard numbers lol but hey maybe a single thread of correlation-causation hope is in order

My checklist is up too! Wow this is really happening.

@pig333 what about penn’s ED rate? I’m not applying, just intrigued.

My daughter’s too.
Should we do the financial part now or can we wait until we know if she is accepted?
