UChicago EA Applicants 2018

For those who is accepted: Congratulations!!! You are amazing!!!

For those who is deferred (like me): REMEMBER: it is not because you are not qualified, it is just because UChicago doesn’t have enough beds in their dorms. GOOD LUCK WITH THE RD ROUND!

For those who think a deferral is a polite rejection: Don’t be pessimism, CC consists of probably the most dedicated college applicants, therefore rejection is not common. I believe there will be a moderate number of students got rejected. I heard they accept 1400, defer 1500, and reject the rest (this data is not from any valid resource). Deferral certainly means that you are better than a considerable portion of candidates, and PLEASE GRASP THE OPPORTUNITY.

For those who think rejection is better than deferral: I bet anyone who is still strongly interested in UChicago are happy to be given a second chance, regardless of how bad a waiting can be. Therefore I assume if you love rejection more than deferral, probably you are not seriously interested in the school anymore… maybe you should withdraw your application and end the prolonged waiting that you hated with a self-rejection, and give us who are still seriously waiting a better chance.

GOOD LUCK and MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR ALL. DON’T LET THE DECISION DECIDE YOUR MOOD AND YOUR LIFE. BE HAPPY EVERYDAY.

@thebigred14 How were you notified of getting that scholarship? Was it in the acceptance letter? Or somewhere else on your UChicago Admissions profile page?

@questions I got a scholarship too, and it would show up under your letter. There was a link to my letter, my financial aid, and my merit letter.

@Dad2013 How did you find out about merit and financial aid? Is it on the UChicago profile page? Or does it just come in the mail?

@mermaidgirl did you already submit your 2012 tax returns?

The merit and financial aid letter links were just below decision letter link as mermaidgirl indicated above.

@Dad2013 Do you have it under the “Status Update” tab?

@ironchariot UChicago 2018 deferrees FTW!!!

“I heard they accept 1400, defer 1500, and reject the rest (this data is not from any valid resource).”

I very much doubt this. If they get to recount deferees in RD, then almost everybody probably got deferred.

There’s a guy in my school with 1400 in SAT (and a lot of amazing ECs), and he’s accepted.

I’m 1500+ and deferred. But again I have weak ECs.

Erm there is hardly any difference between 1400 and 1500. Test scores don’t matter that much.

D called her interviewer to thank him after receiving news of acceptance. He told her they accepted 1300 in EA round this year. Not official, of course.

I think UChicago defers more than they reject.

Just wanted to say it’s been humbling reading your posts. I’m a parent stalking this board as I watch my child go through this process. Reading your comments, genuine support for each other and your impressive stats left me dubious about my senior’s chances of acceptance. You kids are truly inspiring. There is hope for the next generation  Best of luck to all of you!

@edgaredgar: It’s a one-time grant of $5000, used to fund a summer internship, research project, or activity of that sort.

@questions777: As mermaidgirl said, it’s right underneath the acceptance letter in the “Status Update” section of the applicant portal.

@questions my family did submit my tax return in time. we wanted to know what the financial aid would be along with my decision.

It kinda sucks that nobody’s been posting. We need to keep up the fun! I propose that we start fangirling over Tom Hiddleston again. Anyone want to second that?
@ironchariot 2018 UChicago Deferrees are awesome! and we WILL get in.
I like knowing you people. Can we please still talk here?

Good luck to everyone with their new found college!!! We will have a Gastby party!!

Agreed, crazychic, let’s keep the spirits up  This is horrible, but I’ve never seen Tom Hiddleston in anything! What do you think is the best place to start? ;)

The Avengers!! I also liked Thor, though :D
