UChicago Early Action / Early Decision Class of 2030 Official Thread

This is the official thread for those applying EA/ED to University of Chicago.

List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

My kid is applying SSEN and wondering if there are others to share admissions info., etc. My kid hasn’t submitted yet but curious if any early submitters have heard back from Chicago on decisions.

My son is applying too. A couple of his friends who sent the applications in on the 1st are still waiting, but the rumor is that they should get the decision tomorrow.

The first batch of the decisions are out!

I’m hearing mixed bag. Very high stats kids not getting in and others accepted without high numbers. Makes sense in some ways. They really care about the essays.

My daughter was accepted. Very high GPA and rigor, strong ECs, did not submit standardized test scores (although she did self report her AP scores). Her personality was on full display in her essays.

Congrats to those accepted! My son’s two friends from his school both got in too. He finally submitted his application. Hoping to hear back by October 10.

Son got his acceptance on Friday! He is over the moon. Dream school that he’s been working toward for years. No crazy awards or ECs. Great stats and a good kid. I really like the ED0. He’s was going to Summer Program anyway, good way to explore a campus life. This made the process feel more personal and let him really understand the College. I feel like ED won’t last, but it sure made sense for us.

New batch out today and my kid got accepted! We all couldn’t be happier! As a parent, I am very thankful to UChicago for the opportunity to streamline the college process. ED 0 isn’t for everybody, but it provides great benefits for the right kid.

Congrats to your kid! May I ask how long ago he applied? Was it about three weeks?

Applied last week. I would not read anything into timing.

Thanks! My son applied last Sunday. Good to know it may be even less than three weeks.

Anyone applied for Financial aid among the accepted students? If yes, was the approximate package given?

My kid did not get in. Near perfect GPA, tons of APs, very strong ECs, 1570 SAT. Pretty sure it was his essays, which he was never entirely happy with. Fortunately, he’s a resilient kid and has already moved on. Very grateful to have the answer so quickly, so he can now regroup and figure out the next steps before the ED1 deadline.

Good luck to your son! He sounds like an incredible kid with lots to offer and any school should be glad to have him!

Congrats! How was the admit info conveyed? Did the student receive an email pushing them to the portal? Were parents informed as well? Thank you!

Anything yet? My kid applied ~September 20 and estimates a response by October 10

We heard back last Friday. It was a rejection, so a fast response is not necessarily a good one. Good luck to your kid!
