<p>the accounting minor DOES cover the accounting course requirements need to sit for the CPA exam. It obviously will not cover the total required number of business/economics courses you need. Majoring in business economics will satisfy this however.</p>
<p>UCI’s business courses are not hard, I’ve heard that the curve in them is generally set to a B+. That is phenomenal. Most courses set the curve between a C+ and a B. The only class I’ve had where a desired mean was verified was a math course where the mean GPA was set to a 2.7.</p>
<p>my advice, knock out your requirements ASAP, do well in the required classes(as in As and A- only) and take a leadership role in an accounting related club. Apply to the minor early and apply often. You have one chance every quarter. Write a stellar statement of purpose. Take as many requirements above the prerequisites as possible(two general management classes for example)</p>
<p>I’m a quantitative economics major with minors in mathematics and statistics my cumulative GPA is just under a 3.5 though my GPA in my economics and business courses is around a 3.9 or so, I’m vice president of the Undergraduate Finance Association. I’m applying to the minor next quarter and hoping to get in. I’m also taking 3 or 4 of the required accounting courses this summer which will leave me with the vast majority of the minor’s requirements satisfied.</p>
<p>FYI, you can knock out the minor over the course of two summers.</p>
