In the meantime, we should talk about things to get our minds off of the wait.
Like–how about them ripe-but-not-over-ripe bananas, huh? Just the right firmness, just the right chomp against the teeth, like a hand-sized capsule of potassium and sugar, ammiright?
@seafoodude I’m leaning towards Cal Poly as an Electrical Engineering Major but I want to know if I got accepted because I was rejected in high school. It’s more like accomplishing what I once failed.
@seafoodude I think most of us transfers would like to accomplish that! Lol thank you.
One question. If I do get accepted to Stanford, should I choose that over Cal Poly for my major? Knowing that my family is low income, I will have the opportunity to get a full ride. But Cal Poly is one of the best schools for my major because of their whole “Learn By Doing.” I’m in a technical major and I don’t think getting the research will matter until I go for my Master’s or PhD.
Another question. Who actually visited the Irvine Campus? I did a couple weeks ago and immediately fell in love. UC Irvine was my top choice back in high school
@lovelaurynb just curious but what are your stats? and did you apply for engineering to all schools? it’ll be super difficult to get into stanford (i heard only 20 people get in as transfers idk), but you should definitely go if you get in since it’ll be so much more worth it for your future imo. good luck!
@friedchips I don’t think I will get accepted to Stanford but I will not hold myself back from trying. I’ve applied to all schools as electrical engineering but EECS for Berkeley because their program is combined with Computer Science. I have a current GPA of 3.7 but I’m really involved with the Honor Society, MESA, STEM, SHPE, the State of California government, and my County Government.
Also for my Stanford application, my professor that wrote my letter of recommendation is a Stanford Alumni and an Electrical Engineering major. My friend has a friend that got accepted to Stanford as a transfer so I’m hoping the odds are in my favor.
@ellieplusplus
Applied: UCI, UCSB, UCSD, Cal, UCLA, UC Davis, SF State, Sac State, San Jose State, Cal Poly SLO, Stanford University
Accepted: UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, UC Davis, SF State, Sac State, San Jose State, Cal Poly SLO
Pending: UCI, Cal, Stanford
Major: Electrical Engineering
GPA: 3.75
IGETC: Will complete this Spring
EC: Honors Society, SHPE, MESA, STEM, State of California
Work: Have three jobs including a youth case manager for the State of California, Vocational Assistant for my County Government, Student Instructor for my current school
hey just really curious,
if we get accepted or rejected, do we get an email? or does it say on the myadmission page?
How do you guys know it’s pending??? O_O
I have a question for others who submitted a TAG to UCI. Once you log into UCI My Admission, what does it say under the “Application Summary” section? Mine says “We have received your Transfer application”, and am concerned why it doesn’t say “You’re application is under review” like others earlier in this thread (page 7).
Even though I have a TAG submitted for UCI, I think I’m anxious because the transfer workshop at my CC gave me the impression that any accidental discrepancy between the TAG and application could void the TAG.
To stay optimistic, Berkeley will release their decisions this afternoon. HOPEFULLY today will be the last day of torture for all of us.
@lovelaurynb I’m from Irvine so I’ve spent a lot of time on UCI’s campus because I used to study in Langson or Gateway. I like the campus because the size isn’t overwhelming and I love how culturally diverse it is. Plus, Irvine is an awesome suburb–it’s clean and has great climate/location.
@lovelaurynb, did you get into EE at UCSD?? Very impacted major so if you did, nice job.
If you get accepted to Stanford definitely go to Stanford. It’s a great school and the prestige would get your foot in the door anywhere you wanted to work.
@parks16 that’s another reason why I loved it! But about the culturally diverse comment. I noticed a lot of Filipinos on the campus (I am a quarter Filipino myself) so in my case it wouldn’t feel diverse lol.
@ellieplusplus yes I did! For Sixth College (my top choice). Thank you so much! But I visited the campus and didn’t really care for it. My friend that goes there in Structural Engineering recommended I go to Cal Poly instead for my major because it is hands on. I also spoke to a guy last weekend when I visited Cal Poly for open house. He had a full ride scholarship for Berkeley that he turned down for Cal Poly. It really is telling my something about the education there. He now has an internship with PG&E and will pay off the loans he had to pull out for SLO.
I’m a transfer student with a 4.0 but have yet to finish my math prereqs (I’m an English major)
Not really counting on getting in, but I still have hope…
