are there any group chats for paul merage business admin students? Would like to connect
Does anyone know if I can just go to transfer admit day this Friday? When I got the acceptance email, I didn’t realize there was an RSVP option on that same email. But then again, I also heard that the RSVP filled up within 30 mins anyways.

UCI fall transfer 2019
@IplaytoomuchApex just show up!
@C105213 Do you know if I go, I can get free parking and still participate in all the events?
@oofwhatamood I’m sort of in the same position as you. I’m considering between Irvine and UCLA and hope to go to medical school. I have a lot of friends at UCI and I know I’ll have a fun time there but I tend to thrive in a boring environment where I’m not distracted by my friends. But I know some people who need social interactions to stay motivated by having a balance of fun and work. So it really depends on what environment is best for your personal interest and need. If you’re confident in your study habits then don’t worry about UCSD being cutthroat. But if you don’t think you’ll be motivated at SD to work hard then go to Irvine.
@“Lin_2016” Oh, definitely choose UCLA over Irvine if you want to get to medical school. I can’t post links but there’s information out there that indicates much greater success in getting to med school from UCLA than from UCI. UCLA is actually the top school in the nation as far as getting students into Med School (over 1014 students this last year compared to UC Irvine’s 366).
UCI doesn’t have a medical school or a hospital so there isn’t quite as much opportunity…
@kristinpete that’s not true. UCI has both a hospital and a medical school
Ok, so I just got off the phone with admissions. Posting this for future transfer hopefuls since this could be important.
They said I was rejected (with TAG and a 4.0, excellent essays and plenty of EC’s) because I did not satisfy Calc 2 requirements (call it Math 266). However, I got an A in Calc 2. The problem is that my school changed the course numbers right in the middle of me taking the Calc sequence. Math 265 and 266 became 261 and 262 respectively. I should note that I explained at great length in the “additional comments” section that these courses were exactly equivalent, as was confirmed by the dean at my school.
Importantly, I was accepted into UCLA and UCSD with (obviously) the same exact application, so I’m not really buying it. I feel that they were overloaded with TAG applicants and where looking for any reason to deny me. They said I could appeal but I already SIR’d to UCLA and UCI was a safety anyway.
Lesson: idk, hope your college doesn’t change at all in the time you’re there? They should definitely understand that schools need flexibility. Also, a name change shouldn’t prevent a 4.0 student from being admitted.
@africangirl97 My bad - I’d always heard that they did not… …
Regardless, UCLA still gets more students in.
business Econ major still haven heard back
@collegewowzers you should definitely hear today.
@IplaytoomuchApex my friend who graduated last year told me they don’t check. And that transfer admit day is open to anyone. However, you would have to pay for parking.
Same boat here, I TAG’d to UCI under informatics, met all the requirements, with a 3.6 GPA, and was denied. I called admissions and they gave me the runaround, but eventually handed me over to the transfer office and after looking at my application, saw that i got a C in calc 1, were about to say that was the reason, but then realized that this wasn’t required for my major, backtracked, then told me that i did indeed meet all the requirements and they didn’t know why i was denied lol. The clerk recommended i appeal, despite the fact that i have absolutely no new information to provide, since this seems to be an internal decision, and said that he couldn’t give me an answer as to why i was denied.
@uclaletmeinpls interesting. Thanks for the update. That does sound sketchy, and your motive is plausible. I’ve wondered about that myself sometimes. You cannot appeal a TAG rejection so you have no recourse.
Does UCI just hate TAG?
It wasn’t sustainable for them to offer TAG for CS, idk if other majors are having similar issues
STILL no financial aid reward… this is the only UC to not send one so far. Cal State Long Beach decision is due in an hour and now I’m stressed. If I wait… I’m going to be putting all my cards on UCI. I hope I get a good reward.
Still no physical letter. Got accepted at April 18
Just pay for Long Beach
And your love for UCI will force you to lose the money you gave Long Beach. We throw money to the trash all time. This is your future. Just do it
