UCI Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@ayayaAYAYA for what school? Schools work independent from eachother

Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences

(949)824-7427 that’s the number to the school. Call and let them know you haven’t receive any email confirmation.

@ayayaAYAYA that’s the same school I’m in as well. I filled out the survey with the selected date and time. But I haven’t receive a confirmation yet either. I think they’re going to send it out later.

still waiting for my acceptance package as well! also i’m on the waitlist for orientation hopefully they have some space soon. congratulations to everyone!

Hello! I am an incoming transfer student. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to look for off campus living? Specifically in Newport Beach or somewhere close to it. Thank you!

@mads101 Costa Mesa is also a great place to look. Cheap and really close to UCI. And the city is pretty safe.

Is anyone going to do the renters insurance? I’m in AV and debating if I should pay the $160.78 for the year

What company are you using? ^^^

@Ohm888 it was the one mentioned in the personal information form called GradGuard

i saw a reddit post of some transfer planning their class schedule already, are we supposed to be doing that?

@chloesalem no.

Its early, but has anyone started buying things for their apartment?

@ilovemydog2019 I haven’t. I probably will hang UCI stuff on my room wall but I’ll buy a mattress topper later on. And I will bring my lamp I have in my room. Lol that’s about it. Oh and all cooking stuff I’ll bring from my kitchen lol.

does anyone know if we can just show up to tspop and pay there? I’m currently on the waitlist for it and i doubt a spot will open up because people just sell their tickets instead of contacting uci to notify them that they’re not attending

@toncca I would think not since they only have a set number of people attending each session, but I would call and ask tomorrow. personally I wouldn’t worry about not being able to go since it’s not mandatory but that’s just me lol :stuck_out_tongue:

@toncca there’s someone in the fb group UCI fall transfer 2019 that is selling their ticket

Okay so today I attended my academic advising session and I just thought I should leave a summary of it here for you guys to sort of expect. Not sure what parts will be specific to my major, but this is what happened for the School of Engineering.

So I’m sure you all have the email for the advising sessions at this point. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS CLOSELY. For me it was a little confusing because they talked about both the academic advising session and the optional transfer orientation details in the same document, and it was a difficult to distinguish which one they were talking about when it came to certain steps, especially the part about sending unofficial transcripts. DO send those to the specified email. Your advisors need them to make your schedule for just this year, as you will be registering for classes during this session. It will save you a ton of time. Yes, the official transcripts aren’t completely processed yet if you’re doing a session before July, but for that day, all of the holds will be cleared so that you can register for what you need for the fall. We’ll all be getting a second advising session later in the fall to finalize that you are, indeed, meeting all the requirements for those classes as well as 1 on 1 advice moving forward.

Be prepared for some ice breakers obv. Good luck everyone.

Also does anyone know if I can use my on mattress at the ACC apartments? I’d call, but it be night time uwu

@toncca i don’t think you’ll really be missing out if you don’t go. I’ve had some friends tell me not to because they went freshman year. Also it cost the moneys

@ricehappy10 did you bring your own laptop to register for classes or did they have computers set up?
