Does anyone else have “Official transcripts/Academic documents” still unchecked on your admissions portal? I already submitted all my available transcripts in June to admissions & records, but those did not include one of my classes from this past Spring so it’s making me anxious because today is the deadline. TIA!
@ilovemydog2019 I’m still waiting to hear back. I submitted them, and they’re not marked as received. I’ve sent 3 messages in the portal, but Admissions said they’re really backed up now with all the transcripts to review. That the only way your admissions counselor will even speak to you is through written communication. It’s just a waiting game at this point. I’m frustrated beyond belief as I’m kinda on hold with housing and work trying to figure out whether to stay where I’m at or relocate to accommodate school.
The receptionist at Admissions told me that it could take all the way until the end of July or even into August. I’m going to continue to push for an answer-- I’ll keep you guys updated!
@misseskite hopefully everything works out!!
If anyone’s transcripts/test scores have not been marked off yet try filling this form out https://apply.admissions.uci.edu/register/records
has anyone’s financial aid change? because I can’t view my financial aid award anymore
@thisisnotme it should be back no later than July 12. They had to make changes to the FA Awards to reflect the changes in this year’s tuition and fees. But what you had before is most likely it since my award was just $2 less.
Does anyone have an idea of how much you’ll be taking out in loans? I’m thinking I’ll need around 3.5k each school year, but I’m not too sure
@ilovemydog2019 I’m taking a 4K loan. Subsidized too!
@C105213 you don’t have to answer if this is too invasive, but are you getting full or nearly full financial aid? my efc is 1000 so I’ll have to make up for that plus a little for housing. I’m also thinking that whatever I don’t use in loans I’ll just keep so I can pay it back later.
@ilovemydog2019 nearly full I would say. UCI aid hella came through! God is good!
@ilovemydog2019 you should be good! On your bottom left of your aid under your shopping sheet there’s expenses that truly don’t make that number. Financial aid over estimates. For example on other expenses there’s like 3k. I am definitely not going to spend 3k. Ima act broke during my two years at UCI. For books as well. There’s 1k for books year round, but I already scoped the books for this fall quarter for the classes I added and each book is less than $50. Actually two books are $27 and the third class don’t require a book. Not even a bill and first quarter is taken care of.
for those staying in the acc apartments, does anyone know why we’re paying a full installment for september when we can’t even move in until the last week of it? i would think it’s just renovations between move out and move in day but it still sucks getting chewed out a grand for a fourth of the month.
@ricehappy10 we’re actually paying (if you’re on the September lease) rent for August and September, before we move even move in. They do it this way so it’s in 12 monthly installments. Final payment is in July 2020.
@ilovemydog2019 thank u
Has anyone attended the ICS academic advising yet? How long does it take and is it just a general introduction and group session?
I know its scheduled for 3 hours but I may not be able to attend the full 3 hours. I’ve heard for other majors the earlier you arrive the earlier you may be able to leave but I’m not sure if its the same for ICS.
@speng101 So for the first hour we were in the donald bren hall where there’s a small presentation. The only important thing about this is that they lift your hold (when they take attendance in the beginning). They then give you a recommended list of classes for the fall quarter. Then we walk to the computer science building to register for classes. We go to the computer labs and we register for our computer lab accounts and then you just register for classes. I already knew what classes I was taking so I just registered real quick and I was probably the first person out of the room at a little before 3:30 (you can probably be done by 3 if you do it fast but I took my time). So if you want to leave early just plan out your classes ahead of time (make sure you check for prereqs). If you really need to leave early, just leave right after the presentation and you could be okay since you only really need for them to lift your hold. But I would recommend staying because there might be problems with registering for classes if they made a mistake not clearing you for a class you want to take
